Hi, this is the MTG: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 (XMAS 2024 EDITION)

First, I want to THX everyone that was involved in this project during the CW era. THX to you, I am able to implement new cards inspired by your existing code. I’m not going to cite names because I’ll probably forget some. THX to all the previous cards creators, function creators and the great “Deck creator”. You all did an amazing job!

This a version that I’m working for myself, but I share what I have with you. The main purpose of this version is to get new cards available to the “random deck generator” that I’ve created. This is NOT a continuation of the CW version of the game. I took the game from the last CW version and modified the game as I intended.

You still can create your custom decks and use them in the game.

The purpose of this version is to have DOTP2014 with the most possible cards, but only those who can be played by both Human and AI and don’t interfere with the game framerate.

The good:
- Hundreds of debugged cards
- Updated HD ART, size: 1024X752 or 752X1024 for ALL cards and tokens (Art treated with AI and some other tricks, from DEFAULT SCRYFALL art images).
- About 300 new art for tokens added
- DOTP has now 20034 supported cards up to Streets of New Capena (37 cards already coded from this set)
- Most cards (In my ability) coded from "Limited Edition Alpha, 1993" up to SNC (more than 600 cards where coded from older sets)
- About 2950 new cards in comparison to CW version
- Recoded land cards (2, 3 colors or mana of any color)
- Recoded energy counters
- Abilities description on cards, like in paper cards
- Updated text (enters the battlefield is now just “enters”; no more "to your mana pool" text; "converted mana cost" is now "mana value")
- Support for day/night, dungeons, Initiative, ability counters…
- "Type 5" and "Type 5 Speed"; this is how i usually play DOTP14 with my random generated decks (just add card to your deck to try it).
- A lot of other minor changes

The bad:
- CW version is not fully compatible with this version. Cards with words like “permanent” or “enchantment” are not compatible with this version (I’ve simplified the functions)
- Planeswalkers are not supported
- Cards with mana related effects that AI isn’t able to play properly, are not supported
- Cards or effects that slow the game framerate are also not supported (Improvise, Delve…)

Bonus:
- A python, random deck generator is provided (created for personal use)
- A python, small tournament app was also created for personal use, but also available
- A python app to generate skeleton code of cards, because DotPUniGen.exe is not creating card skeleton anymore

Transform cards are now "supported" also in "my version". They already existed, were finely coded and don't interfere with framerate. I didn't included them already because there was no way of knowing in what card it was transforming into and you couldn't play accordingly. But i've included this info now and you can get the info about the card the the transforming card will transforme into, Just Zoom the card and click "More Info" button to check the description about the card to transform into, Phyrexia: All Will Be One cards are coded and checked. Only some cards from it's Commander are missing (the hard ones). Maybe ,next, i'll be coding the transform cards left behind and try to code Prototype cards before moving to newer sets.

Hi,

I downloaded the whole folder (the full size is 2.7go), and when i launch the game (DotP_D14.exe) i get an error with a log file .dmp being created, and the game is stuck on an infinite loading screen at start-up.
=> I have many errors like this one:
"27/06/2025 10:26:36: Low: Can't find referenced card: CONCUSSIVE_BOLT_373723 for regular unlocks (9115) for deck with Id: 175"

And also i can't add the folder to "my drive" so my google drive program would keep the folder updated. I don't know if it is because you shared it without giving the permission to do so, or if the problem is on my side. So at the moment, i downloaded it as it was when i downloaded it.

The full game is around 17GB, not just 2.7.

1st Install original game. Delete game folder and replace by XMAS version (keep game folder the same as the oringinal. rename if necessary)

Ok indeed my bad, i thought if i unzip one of the 7 zip parts google drive downloaded, it unzips all, but no i need to unzip all one by one. The folder is indeed > 17go.

=> I installed first the Magic 2014 full version with the installer (version that gives you the 700+ decks) (not the anthology one that installs every dotp game in a specific folder)
=> Then i deleted the folder and replace with your Xmas folder of 17go renamed correctly
=> Few errors, can you help me please?

If i look in the actual google drive folder, the files mentionned in my log errors (like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Magic 2014\DATA_DLC_DECK_BUILDER_CUSTOM\DATA_ALL_PLATFORMS\CARDS\ACIDIC_SOIL_CW_5722.xml" for instance) are empty (size 0ko).
I downloaded your previous mediafire that works fine, and seem to have the correct files.

If you ever have time to take a look at it, let me know.

These files are not geting uploaded. I don't know why. Must check!

I am trying to make balanced decks so i can play 1v1 or 2v2 with AI.
Do you have an idea how i should proceed?
Atm i go check tournaments meta on websites and try to reproduce their decks. But i am not sure it is possible if too many cards are not supported.
If you have an advise i would gladly take it

If you have a more precise description of what is not supported i would also gladly take it (can AI use multicolored lands for instance Etc.)

You can run the deckbuilder shared with the game and check for available cards. There are more than 22.000 cards available now.

Two color, three color lands and the effect to produce ayn color is available.

The purpose of XMAS version (at least for now) is to have cards that both you and AI can play properly. There are lands and some type of abilities that AI doesn't understand how to play them. Everything related to mana producing can become problematic in game.

For example. I can program cards that can create a "Powerstone", I paly it fine but AI doesnt seem to understand the effect. In CW version there were the MM(Manual Mana) cards, that you tapped manually but AI don't know how to properly play them.

Create a deck in Forge format and import it to DeckBuilder to fast create your deck. If the cards are available they will be imported.

Only cards up to LOTR (that i'm coding now) are available.

OR

You can use the RANDOM DECK GENERATOR that i ceated to generate your radom decks from about 19.500 card pool. I don't have time, patient nor skill to create my own decks, so i created it.

Usually those games are very balanced and i had some great games against the AI.
