Postby Megres » 18 Jun 2013, 11:09

Describe the Bug:
I have an Hedron Crab in play, I attack, and despite the Hedron Crab is not blocked, I cant activate the Silent Blade Oni nunjutsu ability.

Which card did behave improperly ?
Silent Blade Oni

Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
Dragon's Maze v. 2, Duel.

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
I should be able to activate Silent Blade Oni nunjutsu.

Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?
No.

Well, it's exactly how Ninjutsu works, Megres, it requires an ublocked attacking creature ;)

This appears to be fixed in PTT. Gargaroz, are you still working on ninjutsu?

No, Ninjutsu works fine, but strangely this card was giving me a lot of problems.
If it's working now, well, it's fine.

I'm really clueless as to why you (Gargaroz) maintain that Ninjutsu "works fine"... cause it has NEVER worked for me whenever I made a deck for testing incl. these creatures(usually but not exclusively "Ninja of the Deep Hours" and "Silent-Blade Oni)in it!!!

Which update are you using?
Most recently NOT working in:
- September patch v2
- Path To Theros patch v1

Besides my own CLEANED & UPDATED old install, I even tried it on Korath's Vanilla Version with PTP, uploaded in mid November + subsequently on Stassy's uploaded "Fusion of Mini Patches (for PTP)" named 11162013B.zip

Which card did behave improperly?
I can confirm that with at least 7 of the 9(10)creatures with Ninjutsu [Yes eventually I got too bored/tired of testing ALL of them since the PATTERN is crystal clear!] - Manalink is only having 9 since there is no "Walker of Secret Ways" - Ninjutsu doesn't work at all!!!

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction?
All those creatures with Ninjutsu in you hand should be able to be activated I.E. lighten up in customary Yellow (provide you have enough mana to cover the Ninjutsu cost of course!) during your combat phase after opponent/AI has declared blockers for ANY unblocked attacker you have left in your attack!

My ultimate request/advice?
Since this is far far from the 1st time the good Gargaroz has claimed something to be working/fixed on his end - I naturally believe him of course! :):) - only not to be working on my or other people's end, I hereby encourage him to make available i.e upload HIS VERY OWN build/version of Manalink at regular intervals, especially since he is also the main programmer/coder + bug fixer! This is IMHO the only way to get to the bottom of these stubborn conflicts and conflicting "working"reports, since I personally don't believe for a minute these discrepancies has anything to do with peoples junk-filled computers, OS versions (32 bit vs. 64 bit)or antivirus etc. running in the background, and just FYI I'm not myself a computer novice but very much the contrary.

PS: This is my 1st bug report (had been working on one "half-a-mile long" covering mostly black cards earlier in the year... but seem to have misplaced it! lucky you!), so even though I have read how you guys prefer bug reports with the standard format etc. is this here report as just another reply OK???... or do I really need to send it in as a NEW Ninjutsu bug (even though it has not been working for many months as I said) not exclusively confined to Silent-Blade Oni???

I am not at home to test Ninjutsu right now but as you don't say anything about the Rules Engine card, you may don't know that the Engine card Lights up When a attacks and is not blocked of course, you click on the engine card and then you select which creature with ninjtsu you want to play!
And the same is true for flashback, and some other abilities that I don't remember now.

Thanks for the Rules Engine advice, Aswan Jaguar, will test it ASAP... I naturally 1st and foremost expect ANY card to light up in the customary Yellow color whenever they/or their abilities are legally allowed to be played?!

In the meantime, Stassy, - might take a while before I have time to test your Engine advice as other obligations is calling now - I attach a test deck incl. 2 of each of the 9 Ninjutsu creatures, meaning this deck is thus somewhat bigger than my original deck (but does contain my main cards and ideas) and what I usually prefer to test with which is max. 75 cards in a deck before any trimming.

Yep ninjutsu is definitely working. The issue must have been the rules card.

Yes it does indeed work when you press The Rules Engine!!!... My Bad!

And my apologies too, cause I do "vaguely" remember having read some instructions regarding when to pay attention to the darn nerdy looking jester dude and the Rules Engine card which encompassed him... but that lovely green poison named Absinthe must have gradually erased it from my memory bank!

So kudos once again to Answan Jaguar for his speedy aid, you have hereby won yourself a romantic weekend for 2 with Justin Bieber on the old Alcatraz Island in the SF Bay! And If you eventually get fed up with cute little Justin and lock him up inside one of the old cells... then please remember to throw away any and all keys!!!

Anyway, could I please ask some of your seasoned Manalink experts to maybe compile a little list of ALL cards and card-functions/abilities which is controlled by that Rules Engine... so those players less enlightened about the whole reversed engineering project will know WHEN to pay attention to it lighten up and thus WHEN to press it!... Thanks in advance. :D

PS: Although Ninjutsu in fact was not still a bug after all, due to my own ignorance!, I still maintain it's a good idea for Gargaroz the lead programmer to make available his very own build/version of Manalink from time to time, as at least in theory, it could save himself and the regular testers some time on this here "Bug Forum". LOL! Yes Yes I know HarlequinCasts... but thanks anyway... I did happened to sort of "fall in love" with this here strange game back in 1993 when the then nerdy looking Mr. Garfield invented it... and spent a lot of hard earned cash trying to be a decent boardgame player, but eventually decided that Microprose's bug filled and card limited computer version was more suited for my wallet back then in the late 90's.

Here is the latest photo of Mr. Garfield from 2013 I could find on the Net, from him receiving a prestigious price for "Best Boardgame Design" in Denmark... looks a LOT less like your proverbial Court Jester nowadays, 20 years later, doesn't he???
