Loxodon Hierarch can regenerate itself along with the rest of its team during wrath effects.
In the save game the AI casts Hour of Reckoning. If you double tap Loxodon Hierarch to activate it at the first opportunity he survives along with the rest of your team. You are also able to activate him again during the fast effects prompt. If you activate a second time he is properly sacrificed.
Also tested with Day of Judgment.
