Describe the Bug:
When Athreos is in play and you cast a creature, if the AI casts a counterspell that puts it into the graveyard (ie not remand/memory lapse), that triggers Athreos effect.

Which card did behave improperly ?
Athreos, God of Passage

Which update are you using?(date,name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
6/5/2014 (Journey into Nyx)

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
The creature that gets countered wasn't on the battlefield, it doesn't "die" and shouldn't trigger Athreos effect.

Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?
Don't think so.


Joining a save, if you cast Deathbringer Liege, the AI casts manadrain and triggers Athreos.

Somewhat relatedly, if this is true, Athreos' current code maybe could be used to fix the bug regarding commanders being countered.
Has the interaction between Athreos and creatures being discarded been tested?

Discard doesn't trigger it, either at end of turn or via spell.
