[fixed/closed]Curse of Misfortunes fetch mandatory

PostPosted: 26 Jul 2014, 18:32

Describe the Bug:
Curse of Misfortunes' upkeep trigger will always prompt the card selection/library viewer popup. Hence, the library is always shuffled, even if an invalid card or no card at all is chosen.
Additionally, there is no shuffle animation after a/no card has been chosen.

Which card did behave improperly ?
Curse of Misfortunes

Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
JOU, duel

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
The fetch is optional.
Shuffle animation works.

Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?

Are you sure it shuffles? Not only is there no animation, but an opponent's Cosi's Trickster doesn't get a counter.

Sensei's Divining Top says it does.

Maybe there is something wrong with Sensei's Divining Top.

Same as with Ranger of Eos. If an invalid card or no card is picked, the library is stacked, i.e. cards are sorted in alphabetical order.

Oh, and you can use something like Soothsaying instead of Divining Top. I really doubt SDT is bugged.

Do you have alphabetise on in config.txt maybe that's the difference with us.
For me for both these cards like Bagate says there is no shuffle.I used debug mode to see my library before I cast these cards and after I cast them and the library is in the same order it was before.I debugged an Ancestral Recall also and the cards drawn were the 3 top cards as they were before I cast Ranger of Eos.And Bagate used Cosi's Trickster and it didn't trigger also. Also no visual or acoustical shuffle are done.
The only bug with these cards is that you shouldn't be forced to use their trigger (reddish obligatory trigger is used wrongly) and library opened at will.
The Done button I am referring is the one in the top right corner of the Library menu.

You're right, AlphabetizeDeck was indeed set to 1. Set it to 0 and deck was neither shuffled, nor stacked.
Weird though that it stacks the library if Alphabetize is enabled. If it's not shuffled, does that mean it lets you see your next draws when prompting you to pick a Curse?

Still don't see a "done" button. If by library menu you mean the window that pops up when the player is prompted to pick a card from library, there is none for me.

There is for me,but it is more as a reference than a real button as no matter where in the frame of the library window or at free space in the library window you click you get the same result which is cancel.(when this is set up)
The same result as the click on an invalid card.

So no shuffle, but still need a better cancel option.

Well, the library has to be shuffled once the player chooses to search it, as the shuffling of the library happens regardless of whether the player finds a card of the stated quality or not. Phrasings like "If you do, shuffle your library"/"If that player does, he or she shuffles his or her library" or "[...], then shuffle your library" with respect to searching for a card and putting it into certain zones (or moving it within that zone, e.g. puting it on the top of a library) almost always refer to the act of searching, not to the act of finding and actually moving the searched card(s).

I think the cancelling method of clicking an invalid card or some empty space within the library viewer window works fine. It's just that the searching should be optional in the first place (yellow trigger instead of red/orange one).

Same goes for the Ranger of Eos forced trigger.

This "if you do" phrasing is there just to perplex things needlessly.Use the verb you are referring to.For Ranger of Eos there are 3 possible targets for that "do" = "search","reveal","put".

Yeah, this seems to be a conflict between keeping the number of clauses in a given sentence as low as possible when one of those clauses is of a certain length and keeping the rules text short enough to not clutter the rules text box, especially considering they badly wanted to have that flavor text on Ruel. "If you do" is significantly shorter than "if you searched your library this way", after all. Then again, Squadron Hawk shows there's an easy way to keep it short and clear (albeit Hawk's search clause is about 1/3 shorter than Ruel's).

The templating they've gone for is unfortunate, a misfortune one might say.

The "if you do" refers to the only "may", which is for everything between "When Ranger of Eos ETB" and the end of that sentence. If you choose not to, you don't do any of those three sub-clauses. The wording is a little clunky but that's how it parses.
