[fixed/closed]Tsabo's Web - does not effect cycling lands
by HarlequinCasts » 02 Oct 2014, 12:58
Describe the Bug:
I had to look this up because it's an odd case, but apparently Tsabo's Web should lock down lands that have cycling. Even though it cannot be activated while in play, having cycling is still considered having a non mana producing activated ability:
Attached replay is set up with all cycling lands to demonstrate.
Which card did behave improperly ?
Either Tsabo's Web or all cycling lands (list below)
Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
M15 mini update 3 sept 2014
What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
Cycling lands do not untap while Tsabo's Web is in play.
Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?
Lonely Sandbar
Barren Moor
Drifting Meadow
Forgotten Cave
Blasted Landscape
Polluted Mire
Remote Isle
Secluded Steppe
Slippery Karst
Smoldering Crater
Tranquil Thicket
Rishadan Port
Rustic Clachan

From HERE702.26b. Although the cycling ability is playable only if the card is in a player's hand, it continues to exist while the object is in play and in all other zones. Therefore objects with cycling will be affected by effects that depend on objects having one or more activated abilities.

Original report on Tsabo's Web here. Cycling lands were mentioned as lands with nonmana abilities in the list I submitted.

I just happen to randomly test a few lands and noticed that Rishadan Port untaps normally and should not.
Also Rustic Clachan is a cycling card but without the Cycling keyword. I assume it counts too.

Both of those were not affected by Tsabo's Web last time I mentioned the bugged interaction and are marked on the list as "should be affected".HarlequinCasts wrote:I just happen to randomly test a few lands and noticed that Rishadan Port untaps normally and should not.

Maybe the devs haven't checked it?

Fixed in 61ee874
This also fixes the interaction with lands with Dredge and so on.

Do you mean that Tsabo's Web will now prevent Dakmor Salvage from untapping?Gargaroz wrote:This also fixes the interaction with lands with Dredge and so on.
As of CoRM15 mini4, Dakmor Salvage untaps when Tsabo's Web is on the battlefield, which is correct, because dredge is not an activated ability (it's static).
For a complete list (barring the lands introduced with the latest sets) see the chart attached to the post above yours.

Ah, whops, sorry, it says "activated ability". I'll revert that part, for the rest consider it fixed.
