Dimir Keyrune at least by AI can be made to produce loads of mana.

Confirmed. In a clean game I saw an AI cast Ghastlord of Fugue using just a Dimir Keyrune and 2 City of Brass.
Also tested with Boros Keyrune and Nobilis of War and had the same result. Probably all keyrunes.
It appears that the keyrune always becomes a creature and that the AI needs 2 mana to make it a creature in order for this to work. I am going to guess that the adding mana ability choice is being responded to somehow by the AI and is not limited by needing to tap, so it just adds as much as it wants. The player can't seem to do this.
