[fixed/closed]Opal Avenger turns into Opal Champion

Opal Avenger doesn't become a creature when its controller's opponent casts a creature spell.
Instead, it becomes Opal Champion (unanimated) or switches back to Opal Avenger when pretty much anything happens: I've seen it behave that way when a land was played, a land was tapped, a spell was cast, a turn began, or an attack was declared.
Which card did behave improperly ?

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
