[not a bug]Wheel of Sun and Moon-Fool's Demise

Postby Aswan jaguar » 08 Mar 2015, 11:31

Describe the Bug:
I believe it is a bug according to some searching I made to mtg:
Wheel of Sun and Moon will not work fine with other replacement effects like Fool's Demise that enchants my Wasp Lancer. If the Wasp Lancer dies either blocking or attacking-on any players turn, always AI's Wheel of Sun and Moon that enchants me will resolve first put my Wasp Lancer and my Fool's Demise on the bottom of my library.

Which card did behave improperly ?
Wheel of Sun and Moon?,Fool's Demise?

Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
Manalink 2014/12/20: Commanding 2014 Urzas,duel

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
The owner of the affected card has to decide which effect will be applied when 2 replacement effects take place simultaneously.
see:
http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/magi ... n-and-moon
and specifically this which sound the correct rule:
First off, Leyline of the Void and Wheel of Sun and Moon are both replacement effects, not triggered abilities. Whenever two replacement effects apply, whoever owns what is affected chooses what to apply.

Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?

Re: Wheel of Sun and Moon-Fool's Demise always wheel resolve

Actually, I think it works as intended. Fool's Demise isn't a replacement effect. Note the lack of the word 'instead'. Fool's Demise is a pair of effects which trigger when a certain event occurs. In the rulings on gatherer it says " If Fool's Demise and the enchanted creature go to the graveyard from the battlefield at the same time, both abilities will trigger." (note the use of the word 'trigger')

See rule 614:

614. Replacement Effects
614.1. Some continuous effects are replacement effects. Like prevention effects (see rule 615),
replacement effects apply continuously as events happen—they aren’t locked in ahead of time. Such
effects watch for a particular event that would happen and completely or partially replace that event
with a different event. They act like “shields” around whatever they’re affecting.
614.1a Effects that use the word “instead” are replacement effects. Most replacement effects use the
word “instead” to indicate what events will be replaced with other events.
614.1b Effects that use the word “skip” are replacement effects. These replacement effects use the
word “skip” to indicate what events, steps, phases, or turns will be replaced with nothing.
614.1c Effects that read “[This permanent] enters the battlefield with . . . ,” “As [this permanent]
enters the battlefield . . . ,” or “[This permanent] enters the battlefield as . . . ” are replacement
effects.
614.1d Continuous effects that read “[This permanent] enters the battlefield . . .” or “[Objects] enter
the battlefield . . .” are replacement effects.
614.1e Effects that read “As [this permanent] is turned face up . . . ,” are replacement effects.
