When you use Hateflayer's ability and target a creature it suffers damage instead of getting -1/-1 counters.
Which card did behave improperly ?

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
Damage from Hateflayer is always wither, whether from combat or ability.
Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?
