[fixed/closed]Controlled genju death trigger
by Korath » 15 Aug 2016, 01:31
Describe the Bug:
If the AI controls your Genju of the Falls and the land it's attached to dies, it gets a popup asking whether to bounce it; if it chooses to do so (and it always does), the card ends up in its hand.
Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
Dev, shortly past EMN.
What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
You control the Genju, so you control its triggered effect, so it's correct that you make the choice; but A) the effect won't be able to find the card in your graveyard, and B) even if it said "its owner's graveyard", the effect saying to put it "into your hand" should put it in its owner's, not yours.
For A:
Ruling for Screams from Within:
12/1/2004: If another player has gained control of Screams from Within, its triggered ability does nothing when it's put into a graveyard. Cards are always put into their owner’s graveyard, but Screams from Within's ability looks for the card only in its controller's graveyard.
For B:
400.3. If an object would go to any library, graveyard, or hand other than its owner's, it goes to its owner's corresponding zone.
Also, it should use Manalink's native interface for optional triggers instead of being a mandatory one that asks whether to do it.
Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?
Genju of the Cedars, Genju of the Fields, Genju of the Realm, and Genju of the Spires.
Genju of the Fens, Screams from Within, and Reins of the Vinesteed aren't in Manalink.
