Which card did behave improperly ?
Surreal Memoir

Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?

[fixed by Gargaroz]Makeshift Mauler cast without exile

PostPosted: 04 Jun 2013, 00:02
by Aquillion
Describe the Bug:

Makeshift Mauler requires that you exile a creature from your graveyard as an additional part of its casting cost. Nonetheless, the game lets you summon it with an empty graveyard just fine.

In a presumably related bug, if you cast it with a graveyard that has cards but only non-creature cards, the game will effectively hang -- you'll be repeatedly asked to choose a card, the game won't accept a non-creature card, 'done' won't close the selection window, etc. I was only able to get out of it by force-quitting Manalink. This bug can be seen in the attached save by waiting a few turns until you draw a Lightning Bolt, then casting it on your opponent and trying to cast the Mauler.

Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)

May 2013 : Planeswalking to Modern, from this thread.

Solo duel.

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?

It shouldn't be possible to attempt to cast Makeshift Mauler if you have no creature cards in your graveyard.

Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?

Any other card with an additional cost to cast it, I'd assume, especially ones that require that you exile a specific type of card from your graveyard. Chill Haunting, Corpse Lunge, Haunting Misery, Headless Skaab, Relentless Skaabs, Skaab Goliath, Skaab Ruinator, Stitched Drake... it's a common mechanic.

EDIT: This was reported before here last year, but is marked as fixed. Apparently it cropped back up.

[fixed by Gargaroz]Powder Keg

PostPosted: 04 Jun 2013, 00:05
by Aquillion
Describe the Bug:

Powder Keg is supposed to destroy all creatures and artifacts with CMC equal to the number of counters on it; however, it appears to be preventing them from regenerating as well.

Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)

May 2013 : Planeswalking to Modern, from this thread.

Solo duel.

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?

Creatures killed by a powder keg should be allowed to regenerate.

Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?

Ratchet Bomb, which has very similar mechanics.

When rebounded, it goes into the graveyard instead of being exiled ?

That's strange, the code seems fine, could you check again in a clean game ?

That was a clean game! But I tried it again with a new deck using a bunch of other regenerators and got the same result. I also originally saw it in a sealed tournament (obviously not a clean game); I've attached both the latest solo-game test and the original sealed tournament saves in case it helps.

Could it be triggering at interrupt / mana-source speed and therefore not giving the player a chance to activate regeneration effects or something like that? I know the rules for regeneration changed since the version Manalink uses -- I think it still has them going off in a weird special slice of time when you can only activate regeneration effects, like it does with damage, but I'm not sure how that interacts with modern rules and cards using them.

If I remind the MtG rules correctly, it is the normal effect that the spell goes to the graveyard after the rebound resolution ;)

It is only exiled between the first cast and the rebound.

There is still an issue though : instead of being removed from exile and put into gy after rebound resolution, a copy of the card still stay in exile (so there is 2 cards generated, one in gy and one in exile while only 1 in gy must remain)

6/15/2010 If you cast a card from exile this way, it will go to your graveyard when it resolves or is countered. It won't go back to exile.

This is an ultra minor nitpick as abilities and choices are working fine, just that in the original rule text the trample choice is 1st while in ML3 it's in the second line below, it got me confused at 1st  .

confirmed for creatures that has regeneration as abilities such as Clay Stone or Jhoira's Tool, also indestructible effect provided by permanent (such as Darksteel Axe).
However, permanent artefact with indestructible status such as Darksteel Citadel or Darksteel Axe are not affected by this bug (in fact, if you can put a stop at regen phase you can see the the orange effect glow in the card font for cards with innate indestructible status, while the others can't activate their)
