[fixed/closed]Cuombajj Witches AI bad choices.

Postby Aswan jaguar » 25 Dec 2014, 10:14

Describe the Bug:
1- Cuombajj Witches targets first and then is tapped. This maybe is resulting in poor AI choices especially when AI owns Cuombajj Witches.eg. picking to ping a 2-2 creature maybe because AI can attack then with Cuombajj Witches?
2a- Also AI needs still a lot of help instead of picking creatures it can destroy and that are threatening AI picks creatures that are no threats/can be destroyed by lethal damage,
2b- also activates it when has a lot less life just to pick a creature that is beyond AI lethal capability and risk lose needlessly precious life
2c- AI even when having enough life will activate ability picking useless creature target when AI is the one that has a creature that can be destroyed e.g. 1/1 and human doesn't.

Which card did behave improperly ?
Cuombajj Witches

Which update are you using?(date, name)Which type(Duel,Gauntlet,Sealed Deck)
Manalink 2014/12/20: Commanding 2014 Urzas,duel

What exactly should be the correct behavior/interaction ?
1- Cuombajj Witches first is tapped and then it's ability is activated.
2- When AI is the one in disadvantage of life or of creature that can be destroyed without doing the same to human or creature human has doesn't activate the ability in vain.
Are any other cards possibly affected by this bug ?

* editWishful thinking: It is really a shame that we don't know how to use/keep (if that can be done to begin with)only the AI part code of the hardcoded Microprose cards for these cards as in the above scenarios AI using the original card mostly did good choices. That would mean our devs when recoding would only keep in mind only the code so that the card interacts correctly with newer abilities, rules and still have a decent AI as our AI seems to need lots of code guidance and restrictions so it behaves decently (probably microprose had chosen that path) and our devs don't have the time with so,so much to do.(It is astonishing how much our devs have done without having the source code). =D>

There was a little bug I fixed in c659be2, let's see if this fixes the bad AI behaviour.

I had a creature with 2 toughness and AI had a Cuombajj Witches and a bunch of kobolds and he kept targeting my creature having no effect while I killed a kobald a turn.

I actually found out another bug: actually, targeted player / owner of targeted creature MUST choose another target, and right now is able to cancel the activation, so I fixed it in 8ade657

AI still fundamentally flawed in same way. Will use the witches to no effect even when it means he looses creatures/gets damaged.

Actually I found out another bug: it wasn't checking for a legal target before claiming if it's activeable or not. Also you couldn't re-select the same target opponent picked, and you could. This is all fixed in f74b60c
I tested it a bit and it behaves a bit too aggressively, but otherwise seems fine...
