Removed from Github?

Postby troyready » 16 Oct 2014, 07:07

The repo appears to be missing -- has it been moved?

I'm investigating this issue now. I logged in on the email address registered for the organization and there was no notification there.
I submitted a support ticket to github. As soon as I get a response I'll let you know what happened.

Just in case https://about.gitlab.com/gitlab-ce/ seems to be a good alternative.
But we need a server therefore.

Yeah - it's back!

FWIW, I use GitLab at work, and it's darn impressive. I think the system requirements make it a little tough to just throw on any VPS, but it's rock solid and really nice to use.

I'd be willing to chip in toward a VPS if needed (I don't think any of my own hosting in USA would be too useful).

Old repository is back. Should I use the old one or the new one?

We use the old one. Because Issues and Wiki is more complete.

I received answer from github. It seems it was an error on their part.

github wrote:Sorry for the trouble. We use some automated measures to fight spam, and your account was incorrectly flagged as spammy. I've cleared that flag now, so everything should be back to normal.
I looked over the requirements for gitlab and they seem decent enough. For the size of the MAGE team, a T2 micro instance from Amazon AWS will be enough and that is free tier. Basically, with an account you get for free 750 hours of uptime for such a machine. Even if you wish for some stronger machines, it is really cheap, especially if payed upfront: http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/pricing/. The free tier is only available for one year. After that it should cost around 10$ per month without paying upfront.

The prices for such servers are quite cheap if you ask me.
