They did it previously with 8th and 9th Edition. The cards in question are still legal as long as Origins is. Now that core sets are gone, WotC is doing standalone intro decks for new players that behave similarly.raphael75 wrote:charlequin, I didn't know that. Have they done that before? They started this practice with M15. The extra cards are included in the Deckbuilders Toolkit and in the 30 card sample decks at WPN stores. They are Standard legal for the same period the normal set is.
With Shadows over Innistrad, they've used the sample decks to build "Booster Battle Packs" and they have split the extra cards out with a "Welcome Deck 2016" badge and will rotate with SOI.
