Wow, this Demigod looks great in the end. Do we have a xraw of this version?

No, I had 3 Demigod scans (480x680), mixed them and keep this one.PresetM wrote:Wow, this Demigod looks great in the end. Do we have a xraw of this version?

Here comes my final version of Demigod. I compared your scan with my card and noticed, that my card is not so shiny, more matt. And the release date is more yellowish. I have made three scans, one of them has a more reddish light right above in the picture. At the end I decide for the following version:

yes, you're right, with pure eyes I can't see this details on my card. If you lighten my scan, then the details will become more visible, but this isn't correct I think. It is the old question: a more nicer scan or a more 'natural' scan. Both standpoints are common practice. When you get my xraw, you can experiment a little.

I vote for brighter scans to get all the details anytime this issue comes up at all, promos or regular scans. I would assume that in the original painting you CAN clearly see the details (or the painter wouldn't have wasted his time on them) and that WotC either purposely (to make the tiny artbox on the card less busy) or accidentally (without noticing the difference) made the art darker during the production process.
I hope that if they eventually move to an HQ MODO & Gatherer they would try to make the art (now potentially very large and hi-res) as close to the original painting as is possible.
I would also suggest that we do as much in their stead, creating a group of "ultimate scans" if you will, going through and digitally remastering them to a higher quality standard than the actual cards.
But that's just my 2¢

So I'm alone.
I like scans that comes close to the cards. Remember, this is a project for documentation of existing Magic cards. Not to produce nice pictures of the existing Artwork. This would be another project, to scan all Magic Artwork

You are not alone my friend
I like and support your vision.
Otherwise an English The Dark card and an italian one will look the same once scanned, but we all know they were printed differently.
So, I like nicer scans too but I would like every set presented both ways: a nicer one and an "as printed" one.

i think this only applies to foil cards, because they can't really be scanned correctly. We could release modified nicer versions for those, they are pretty few.

Are you sure that the scans look the same? Here are two examples:Otherwise an English The Dark card and an italian one will look the same once scanned, but we all know they were printed differently.
