Someone should write a script then, because I already spend too much time converting the MA format into something close to MWS format.

Now if 3 letter set codes aren't as good as the full name I can change my procedure but I don't know of any apps that use full names like that.

How about Precons and box sets? We have data for some of those too.

I have Promo Cards (26 sets) and Special Sets (36 sets) to do. I don't think I can get to those tonight. If you want to wait and do everything at once that's cool.

And then there is all of PresetM's stuff and I don't know how that fits in. And then finally the Crops which I would like to get directly from someone's server.

After that I have to add in anything left over that's in the old torrent, like 4EA (even though there's only one card in there).

What are these files from? If you want to compare to the files I have on my server, they'll have to be named basically the same as the original distribution, not like "\ALA\Mountain [1].jpg".
"\ALA\Mountain1.full.jpg" would be close, because you can do a bunch of search and replace on the \SET\ part but all the numbers are formatted differently and the .full is gone.

So is the idea for the torrents your creating to eventually have a single torrent with all the images or was there plans for seperate torrents? I don't mind seeding any you create, but I would like to know if you have any type of offical torrent.

Not certain whats wrong with GH's torrent, is there something missing out of it?

This torrent is meant to be complete. It will include every playable English card, so unlike the original torrent it will exclude filler cards because actually too many have been found now and I don't want to download them all from Magic Librarities either.

It will be official and replace the old one that's out now. There are other torrents out there, like the one that includes all the pics unzipped, which is IMO stupid.

A second torrent will include anything released after the first, so there should only ever be two torrents for everything.

GH's torrent is designed to support MA. As such, it includes no crops, and not as many "extras" as this will, like the Tiny Fun Crops. It has slightly different naming conventions. It also has a unique folder structure that's really not friendly to other apps. The zips don't include folders. The zips aren't named by set. There are probably other differences. So, GH's torrent is purpose built and specific, excluding cards not in his unique database. This one is generic and general, and designed to be easy to use.

Just my $0.02 on the name formating of the files (take it or leave it), in working with converting image names from one naming standard to another to work with various applications I noticed there was no real easy way in the current naming of the files amongst the zips that were available on media fire to accurately determin if one card was a specific version or not. If you are looking to create a generic and easy to use naming scheme you may want to consider using some universal identifier that will accurately identify which card is which.

IMO, this is the card number in the set. I know that having a structure similar to something like this:

Isn't very pretty, but atleast from that if you query "the mother ships" database (gatherer), you know that the #1 card in the set = "some card name". From that, the card images can be named accordingly and easily into what ever format the application is expecting.

But I also realize how un-user friendly naming files 001.jpg would be.

Some script files could be included with the distribution which would rename the images appropriately. Perhaps the default should be MWS. I chatted with a Judge on MagicLeague - he said that MWS is almost unanimously used (99.9%) there.

When I first started the project I collected pics from everywhere. A lot were numbered, I think that was Magic Encyclopedia format or something. It took weeks and a custom program to convert them all to proper names so I could finally compare and pick the best ones and delete duplicates. Octagon might still use numbered "spoilers". But I think I'll be sticking with MWS format.

A custom converter would be nice, and not difficult, but no one has done it. One way to do it -I think- using current technology is with dat files and clrmamepro, but very few people could figure that out.

I think MWS format should be the default the pics come in, because that's how they've been from the start here, and are easy to work with for most people.

I also think that Set/File.full.jpg for unique files and Set/File1.full.jpg are also sufficiently descriptive. There is actually an officially listed order of alternate arts for 1, 2, 3, 4 in Gatherer, although I'm not sure it always matches up to the HQ pics or not. I've never checked or cared. My website just looks at #1 no matter what anyway, because that's what works for my purposes.

IIRC Nyth and I did work on a Japanese promos set and spent time making sure the cards were in the proper order, either by release date or card number, so it's definitely something we want to take into account. I think all the normal sets done by extreme are in order but it should be verified.
