Question! Originals Borders!

Hi , maybe this is not the place to ask, but is relevant to the subject. I'm trying to print some proxies but i don't know how to deal with the borders. Why is it that you scan every pic with those kind of borders? Is it easier to do edit or just for any other reason?

Also, whats the better quality to print my pics? Any format advice? Brightness, sharpness, etc.

What borders are you referring to?
As far as printing them, I've always used the images that were formatted for the MWS and simply added a border to them making the image 511x711 and printing directly to the face of a card.
