Are you still looking for a Lux Cannon scan? I picked up 2 SOM booster boxes this weekend and have a bunch of cards I could scan if you need them. I have a Canon Pixma MX870, is the scanner on it good enough for what you're looking for?

Sorry if I'm not posting this in the right spot, there were so many SOM threads I wasn't sure which one the team was actually posting in.

it's the only one where there's our wishlist.
Yes, please do.

too contrasty with some clipped highlights. Resolution is good. Have you read my signature how-to ?

Yeah, the scanner software I have must suck or something. The only options I have in my advanced properties are the resolution, brightness, contrast (both set in the middle at 0) and a drop down for "Picture type" that has only a "Color picture" option. I was hoping those settings would produce a good scan but since I'm not a photography or graphical guy I wasn't able to tell. :)

Do you have any recommendations on scanners that you know do the job well but are relatively modest in price (maybe $150 US)? I'd like to use the HQ scans in a project I'm working on so I'd like to help with the scans now and in the future if I can.

Edit: After doing a bit more searching it seems like there's some software that comes with the scanner that I didn't install that lets me into more advanced settings, I'm going to give that a go once I get home (late tonight).

I can scan Lux Cannon on Friday if aphistic doesn't succeed. I've scanned for sets before. I'd do it sooner but I'm on a business trip.

lower the contrast and the brightness a bit if you have no other settings.

I found some other scan settings tonight while playing around so hopefully this version is what you're looking for. It looks a little washed out to me but it seems like it fits the description you have in your how-to (grey-ish blacks and detailed whites). There were some additional exposure options but they didn't match what you described and I didn't want to screw it up so I just left it at the default.

Here's the new version:

If that one works I found a 1200 dpi option in the settings and decided to scan one at 1200 dpi as well to see how it looked:

Is aphistic's scan ok or Lux Cannon is still missing?

yup, that's good, aphistic. Thanks to both of you !
I'll use aphistic's 1200dpi.

Ok, nothing more needed. Except patience.

If you don't already have it:

lmk if quality is good, this is the first scan I do under Win7 with a non-Epson driver.

all ready, probably releasing tomorrow.

Mr C, I'm seeing relatively nasty chromatic aberration everywhere, but you can't do anything about that (except if you scanned through a sleeve or something). Other than that, it looks ok-ish.
