Global MTG rules change

What do you think? I think it's the worse thing wizards've done since the beginning of magic. I can accept 'battlefield' and 'exile' but why eliminate mana burn? And WTF they do with the combat!!!

When you´re a goblin, you don´t have to step forward to be a hero -- everyone else just has to step back.

Buffff... I read this before.
"Exile" breaks the use/abuse of some decks that use wishes for retrive Win Conditions that have been removed (StP to Colossus).
"Mana Burn" no comments... Now people will use tolarian and mana drain without headaches.
But the worst thing is how the damage is resolved. Now Fanatic Mogg can't kill a x/2 creature, etc. But probably this will make the combat phase more easy to program.

The Fix: The phrase "remove from the game" is being changed to "exile," which is shorter, more flavorful, and not at all misleading about actually being in the game. The zone is now called the "exile zone" and cards in it will be referred to as "exiled cards."

Personally, I like the Battlefield/cast change. I'm sure if I ask you what the difference between "when ~ comes into play" and "When you play ~ " you could tell me (The anser is a counterspell
). but for new players, I can see how it'd be really hard.
Exile I'm fine with.
Damage is what upsets me most, because the next time I'm at a tournament and go to do something like that, it's just going to end in tears... for me.

I popped onto an IRC channel full of judges talking about the new rules changes. Every complaint was just people complaining "They're changing something! I don't want things to change!"
99.9999% of the time, you won't even notice any difference in the way things happen. It's the 6th Edition changes complaints all over again. I've been reading old complaints about how removing Interrupts and making Artifacts not turn off while tapped will RUIN THE GAME FOREVER. I have yet to see a substantial argument against the new changes that doesn't discard the reasoning behind the changes entirely (by which I mean the only "substantial" arguments I've heard disagree with the contention that, for example, Mogg Fanatic shouldn't be able to kill two 1/1s during combat).

They can change the official words, but people will still call it whatever they want. People have been 'cast'ing things for a long time. I still call creatures 'summons.' My decks didn't use Mogg Fanatic strategies, and I always used Charisma with Prodigal Sorcerer -ish creatures, so my game didn't change all that much.
My only complaint is that now people can actually read Ambiguity.

Well, when I build a deck I ALLWAYS consider combat trick stratagies, wich are my favourite part of the game, so I will give my thumbs down to this change. But all I can do is whine and adapt to the changes really...

With this change, Power Surge is now the most useless card ever. Even Great Wall at least counters Graceful Antelope.

Power Surge isn't useless, it still allows you to cast something after they tap all their lands at the end of your turn without fear of it being countered. It is just really, really lame now. I have a deck that uses Power Surge. Sucks!
