Another programmer :)
by malenko » 10 Jun 2009, 08:32
Hi,
I'm a Spanish programmer and since long time ago i'm design a card engine. By now, I "only" have documented the core of the card engine and i'll start to code soon.
My card engine is based on virtual machines. The cards will not be programmed inside the "game". Instead, the cards will use some kind of "bytecode" that the engine will execute. This allow to implement cards and "mechanism" separately.
My intention is to program the core in C++ and make it portable. The destination of this core will be portable game consoles, PC's,... with a SDL client UI.

Thanks! By now, I'm writting a compiler for the cards, and the VM with c# (later, if all works, i'll plan to translate to c++).
I hope to have a proof of concept soon

Well I'm trying to work on MTG Forge 2.0 and not making much progress. I only need to get 10 card working in order to test the AI but the AI is hard to improve. I'm trying to use alpha-beta but you have to give a score to each action. It is very hard not making the AI look like a complete idiot. Even coding the AI for only creature combat is very hard. (I have one AI working but I want to build a better one.)

My idea it's create a pseudocode to program not the AI for the creature, instead the pseudocode defines the AI for the deck. Not all the decks have to play one card at the same moment. This moment can vary on the deck strategy.
