Timeout for log in / session

I have noticed that when I am reading messages I will stay logged in for quite some time. When I try to post I am often logged out and asked to sign in again (or at least when I try to post is when I notice that I am getting logged out). Any ideas what I can try to prevent the logouts from happening?

I use Firefox 3.0.11

Try to clear the cache and cookies.Normally, that should help.
