I just want to play

Hi all,

I use to play Magic using beta land cards. Now, i have lost (been swindled) most of my cards and anyways i would have no one to play with. How can i play MTG against the computer or other online players? For free i mean. There was a computer game, but i wasn't able to use it on Win XP, or was it Win 98 ..., well anyways i'm pretty sure even if i could find the old CDs it wouldn't work on Windows 7 x64.

I tried installing Shandalar 2012 that i found it this forum, but i got virus alerts and it didn't work and when i tried deleting the folders i couldn't because of undeletable ttf files.

Is there something that i can just unpack and play?

The old microprose game is called Manalink3.0 nowdays and itworks for newer computer systems.
Follow ALL the instructions given on this link:

and then go download and install the latest patch on Manalink/patches forum:
viewtopic.php?f=85&t=15219 (top post)

The warning about virus is known from the wiki:
Q: The download says the files contain a virus. Help!!
A: Don't worry. No viruses here. The Magic.exe program shuffles a lot of files around (including deleting files), so it sometimes gets recognized as a virus. Do not be alarmed, that program is perfectly safe

So there isn't one archive that i can unpack and play.
When i looked at Manalink3.0 it said that it wasn't stable and i don't want to deal with bugs.
If i follow those instructions, will i have an alpha version, a beta version or a stable version?

The version as to game status is stable,there are bugs about cards like any other project here in collectible card headquarters.
Also you can try other projects.You can compare them here:

Keep in mind that most of these projects have more recent updates than the ones in the above link you have to go to their pages and get the newest.
