Anyway, I love how people claim it's easy to implement a rule engine when they haven't tried ;)

I get their newsletter.

For rules maybe he's thinking of Monopoly or Poker. MTG is definitely a worst case scenario!

Well the OP's goal seems to be able to quickly playtest board games, so he's not talking of implementing the rules here, at least initially.
After that, everybody's getting excited over an API that would allow anyone to build any card game they want, with rules enforcement, which sounds like a different story.

But regarding the OP's thread, well it makes sense, although I think MWS pretty much covers that already...
