My Intro & Q's Magic Helper Software
by dracoix » 03 Apr 2011, 06:08
Greetings all, I am Dracoix also known in some circles as "Q."
I would like to thank CCG HQ for the awesome mass collection of scans (to which I will seed the torrent as much as possible if not indefinitely.)
Though the reason I came here is to combine a massive amount of data with correlated card images through my personally programmed counting software. I have a full shoebox and also a full flat-box (the 22" kind) of cards from Unlimited to 5th or 6th edition that I need to go through. Rather than paying or downloading an encumbered software program already out there, I decided to put my day job skills to use and made my own:

(To Google searchers, here's your candy:)
Research:
http://www.abugames.com/Magic_the_Gathe ... Guide.html
-I gotta find my fish-eye lens again.
Data being used:
Primary Database: http://www.magictraders.com/pricelists/
-This is data that gets auto-updated every day and the software automatically downloads.
Debug Database: http://magic.tcgplayer.com/all_magic_sets.asp
-Data I was considering nabbing through site mirroring but was too much trouble.
Scans: http://www.slightlymagic.net/
-Thank you guys!
Symbols (Primary): http://mtg.wikia.com/wiki/Sets
Symbols (Secondary): http://www.wizards.com/Magic/TCG/Articl ... rules/faqs
Symbols (More): http://magic.tcgplayer.com/all_magic_sets.asp
I have a lot of quirks to iron out before I can open up my boxes and sets and start counting. Much of them are due to databasing errors and me having to make a psuedo AI to say "NO NOT THAT ONE! THIS IS WHAT THE HUMAN WANTS!"
I personally haven't played MTG since the mid 90's and I'm sure I have over $5-$10k worth of cards that are going to go up on ebay in a few months with the help of this software. If anyone wishes to buy my collection I will let you know what I have. (I DO NOT have Alpha or Beta non-mana cards, then again I just might.) If I find a Black Lotus, I'm going to frame and padlock that sucker that's for sure.
Anyone interested at all in this development?
