Release 1.25.1
by FranAvalon » 30 Jan 2011, 22:08
Hi.
We will open Botarena (BA) releases to all magic comunity.
This release supports 8096 cards from all magic sets, a very nice number IMHO. Also, in this release BA supports 141 of 155 Mirrodin Besieged cards, more or less a 90% of the set.
Every release will bring more cards and a lot of bugs fixed. So, if you found some bugs, please report their. Thanks.
Download link removed. Please download newer one.
PS: Could an admin give me moderator status for botarena sub-board. Thanks in advance

I want to mention that BotArena is capable of using the full card pictures from slightlymagic but you need to copy them into its image directory (Images\Cards\MWS)and some of the set codes (directory names) differ. When in doubt, open the deckbuilder by Ctrl+D, find the card you want, and name the directory according to the displayed set code.
Just copied it here from the FAQ post.

I installed and when I run BotArena.exe I got this error "the procedure entry point Encodepointer could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNELL32.dll."
I did this 3times the same thing happened even when I tried the only you choice (for a possible administrator rights problem).I downloaded it again but same same error again.Windows XP pro.(without service pack 2 and 3).
I forgot to thank you for making the game available to the CCGH community . More thank you,Congratulations and bravo are still to come after I try this game.

@Aswan jaguar: BotArena requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=a7b7a05e-6de6-4d3a-a423-37bf0912db84. That package can be used in Windows XP with at least Service Pack 3, if I recall correctly(I used to have same problem running BA because of this and I could install that redistributable only after I have installed SP3).

Just checked this out. Very interesting, except for the fact that it seems every one of my decks has one or two unsupported cards in it.
Also, if the program doesn't support sideboarding, it should at least be able to omit the sideboard from the deck, and just have the main 60, instead of turning decks with sideboards into 75-card decks.
Lastly, .mwDeck support would be awesome.

@Clefaria: Although BA does not use sideboard during play, deck parser recognizes "#SIDEBOARD" directive. Any cards that come after that line is omitted during library construction. But the cards in there are still checked and reported whether they are supported by the engine at the game start. In Deck Builder the sideboard is recognized and the cards are put in sideboard pane.
Support for .mwDeck would be nice indeed.

When I download a random deck from deckcheck in Magic Online format (that's the format BA uses, right? .txt is so generic an extension...), it acts like "Sideboard" is the name of a card, since in that format, "Sideboard" is just on its own line before all the sideboard cards are listed.

@Clefaria: BA's deck format is similar to Magic Online format with some differences. One difference is that sideboard directive in BA decks must have a "#"(number sign character) in front of it.

@Clefaria: You might want to try my archive in the Decks thread. It contains deckcheck decks that are completely supported (not ALL of them, but almost 3000), completely converted (including the use of correct basic land pictures for their era). While the list is not nearly complete, by sheer probability, it SHOULD include all major archetypes that are playable.
