Top 10 wishlist
by FranAvalon » 30 Sep 2011, 14:44
I will start this new thread, because I think that is a necesary one
You can post the top 10 cards you would like to see on BotArena. We will go through this list and would try to implement it. But you must know that we will do only cards which are possible with our currrent coding skills
If you request a card, which has a keyword/ability that you don't see on current botarena cards, it's possible that cards wouldn't be supported. Then, try to request doable cards

For example, this is my current Top-10 list. It's based on number crunching the preconstructed decks and Daily Decks on Wizards website, where every cards is assigned points according to the number of decks it is and "completeness" of those decks (if a deck is only missing one card to be implemented, that card gets a bigger score than if there's, say, seven cards missing).
This is the list:
1: Spellskite.
Since its printing in New Phyrexia, this seemingly inoccuous creature appears in lots of decklists as an almost universal sideboard card. Unfortunately, BotArena is still not able to retarget objects with more than one targets.
2: Ancient Ziggurat
Might surprise some of you, but apparently this was a popular card in builds that play lots of creatures and lots of colors. The drawback of the land (mana not usable for anything but creatures) was mostly negligible in those decks, but ironically it's just that what makes the card hard to implement.
3: Mindslaver
Popular and powerful card since its printing in Mirrodin, but the Scars of Mirrodin reprint gave it second wind.
4: Leonin Arbiter
A nasty sideboard card that can stop tutoring effects in their tracks or at least slow them down.
5: Snakeform
An unassuming Eventide spell that can stop a lot. Removing all abilities makes it hard to implement.
6. Harm's Way
The white "Shock", which can save one creature and kill another one. We still lack complex effects like that, it would probably require reworking the whole damage prevention system.
7. Chain Lightning
Now quite as good as Lightning Bolt, but still sees a lot of play where legal.
8. Tajuru Preserver
A popular sideboard card against Eldrazi
9. Quenchable Fire
Nice burn
10. Refraction Trap
Similar to Harm's Way in its uses.

I like reanimators and the current deckbot version is quite playable in legacy. There is no animate dead but I'm guessing thats too hard and life/death isn't a bad replacement. I'm also picking cards that weren't picked yet. ok removing clones.
2. Terastodon. Hopefully you can do this guy he is about the only reanimation target thats really usefull we don't have. [DONE]
Will add more cards when i can think of ones that seem doable and are usefull.
3. Vendilion Clique. This card is in currently but has two problems you can't chose not to make them change a card and if the target has no cards in hand they get to draw one.[DONE]
It is used in a lot of legacy decks and even in vintage.
1. Dispatch this should mean we have all the cards for steel type decks in standard.[DONE]
4. Timely Reinforcements [DONE]
8. Infernal Tutor [DONE]
6. Mana Drain [DONE]
7. Time Vault [DONE]
5. Geist of Saint Traft [DONE]
10. Reckless Waif [DONE]
9. Grand Abolisher [DONE]

For now, clone effects are tricky for us. That is the reason why BA doesn't support any clone or copy artitact effect.
Btw, Dispatch will be on next release
EDIT:
Also Terastodon will be too

Ahh when I said we have all steel decks covered now I missed Puresteel Paladin itself for that version of the deck.

Puresteel Paladin was done when its set was relased, but it produces some weird game crashes due to user interface, or at least it seems so. If we found how we can fix that, the card would be added.

Let's see...
Enduring Ideal
I absolutely love this card and the deck around it.
Infernal Tutor [DONE]
This is needed for various whacky combo decks.
Grave Scrabbler [DONE]
Sprout Swarm (+ Chord of Calling)
Martyr of Sands [DONE]
Guardian of the Guildpact [DONE]
Distant Melody [DONE]
Ideas Unbound [DONE]
Rune Snag [DONE]
Utopia Sprawl
The top 8 of relevant unimplemented pauper cards, not in order (Distant Melody is relevant because it goes into the Elfball deck).
By the way, pauper is an awesome format for BotArena; most commons are simple enough to be implemented and to be good when used by the AI. Oh, and pauper is just the most awesome format in general.
