Hard to beat decks piloted by AI

Postby FranAvalon » 25 Oct 2011, 13:48

I liked muppet's idea, so I've opened this thread to post decks that when are played by AI, do AI hard to beat.

After play BA for several years, i know that AI plays very well beatdown and aggro control decks, some control decks are well played as for example Caw blade, and its perforance is very poor playing combo decks.

If you found a deck of this kind, please post it.

Some time ago, while I was still using Forge, I made some combo decks that were good when played by the AI. The Forge AI however is playing its cards pretty much randomly, which ironically makes it easier to design a combo deck for it. Take this one for example:
Code: Select all
// Total cards in deck - 60

// Creatures - 1 (1.67%)

Emrakul, the Aeons Torn (20937)

// Sorceries - 16 (26.67%)

4 Capture of Jingzhou (20305)
4 Temporal Manipulation (20164)
4 Time Spiral (11038)
4 Time Warp (4217)

// Enchantments - 8 (13.33%)

4 Exploration (10803)
4 Rites of Flourishing (22187)

// Artifacts - 8 (13.33%)

4 Horn of Greed (10431)
4 Howling Mine (4050)

// Lands - 27 (45.00%)

11 Forest (3419)
16 Island (3416)
This deck can combo you out on turn three sometimes, and on turn four with astonishing consistency. However, the BotArena AI is "too good" to win with this deck: It plays all the Mines and Rites over the Time Warps and end up passing the turn instead of taking another one. On top of that, the AI freezes when it gets too much stuff on board and/or in hand, a problem that keeps it from being a successful Elfball pilot as well.

I guess with Terastodon coded we might give the AI a Hypergenesis deck - it is virually impossible to go wrong piloting that, unless the AI keeps very bad hands.
