Deck Editor

Postby mtgrares » 14 Oct 2008, 17:26

What do people use for a deck editor? I could rip out the basic one that I have for MTG Forge. It would be great to use Nate's Deckbuilder but I'm not sure how to only show the cards that Incantus supports.

There is no deck editor. I just edit the text file, since the format is pretty easy ([number of card] [name of card]) on each line, and lines starting with '#' are ignored. I have a CardEditor (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?rsc4ccip92e) to help in programming the cards, and it could possibly be adapted to use as a deck editor. But there are much better programs out there.

I'm not sure how to use Nate's Deck editor, since it doesn't run on a mac. But Incantus can read the Apprentice and MODO deck formats, so you could probably use any deck editor that supports those formats. I believe some deck management programs let you input the cards you own, so you could do that to limit it to the current cards that Incantus has implemented.

I was playing around with Nate's Deckbuilder and I created a new card set called "Incantus" and added cards to it. Hopefully by Monday or Tuesday I'll be done and you can use that to build your decks a little easier.

Hi, I created a new set in Nate’s Deckbuilder called Incantus, so you can easily create decks. When saving your deck, use the MTGO option. From my count, it seems like I missed 5 cards, it is hard to cut and paste around 400 times without making a mistake.

In order to add the Incantus cards, I added a new set name to the file “sets.txt” in the data directory. Then I changed the set names for all the cards that Incantus has. All of the Incantus cards are at the bottom of “cards.csv” but the card order and location doesn’t matter.

You can download the modified version of Nate’s Deckbuilder with the Incantus cards from
http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=6dbb ... b9a8902bda

This modified version of Nate’s Deckbuilder is from the version mtgDeckBuilder-arcane0[1].17-rc3.zip

Attached is a listing of all the Incantus cards from “cards.csv” and the sets.txt file.

a)http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=6dbbe85084464f50d2db6fb9a8902bda doesn't seem to be working anymore :(
and b) what do I do with Incantus_cards.zip, because sets.txt causes Nate's deckbuilder to crash :/

Am i just missing something?

If you use Nate's deckbuilder with Incantus I highly recommend you save as Apprentice format (.dec). These format files are supported by Incantus.

I have added another version of the formats file to show Incantus 0.581. Put it in the data directory of Nate's deckbuilder and copy over your current formats.txt. When used the custom filter will ban cards not implemented as of current version. Get it here:

it does, always has done.... and back when i was searching for one that did run on mac, it was pretty much the only 'good' one out there.

and it does have the "owned cards" function.
