Hey purklefluff,purklefluff wrote:okay!
i got the program to boot up!
couple of things, though (and these may be noob questions)
1) when incantus starts up, the only buttons/options/menu i see is a single prompt... "would you like to play solo game Y/N"
2) there doesn't seem to be any menu or option to start new game/change decks/change settings/do anything except play the solo game with the default decks. nada.
2) i've got some decks i built in Nate's Deckbuilder.... i've saved them to various different kinds of .txt file, but i can't see any way to try to open said decks.... see point 2.
thanks for all your help so far!
And now you've found the warts in Incantus
There isn't really a proper menu system implemented yet (or even a way to start a new game - you have to restart the program). To change the game parameters, you have the edit the incantus.ini file. It's mostly self-explanatory.

Hello Purklefluff,
If you save your files in Nate's deckbuilder under the apprentice format then they will work. Also I use the deck builder frequently and if you want to see which cards are implemented in Incantus I suggest you try this here:

well i've got it working, with my own decks as well.
it all seems very nice and usable. certainly fine for solo-testing a deck before i go and find the cards in RL.
it's crashed on me though. i've put a post in the bugs list, but other than that it's working just fine!
awesome guys. thanks!

As I said in the first post, you need the full v0.59 folder because it contains all the data files. I only included the executable in v0.591 in order to save space. A full v0.592 release (with data files) should be forthcoming in a week or so.

Just sheer luck, I assure you.Tassadar wrote:Ok, thanks for the quick reply.
If you're willing to wait, I'd recommend holding off until I put v0.592 up, since it will have bugfixes and more cards.

Some weird UI bug here, when I start the program I can't see anything but the board background. But once I press Y or N I get the unplayable view in the attached screenshot. No crash, so no log. :S This is with 0.591 (data folder & ini file from 0.59) on Windows XP SP2.
Edit: 0.59 does the same thing.

So now you're

That is no UI bug... that's a "your computer is doing something bizarre" bug. I can't think of what could be causing such strangeness. What video card are you using? Are you using the latest drivers? Do you have anything Python-related installed? If so, perhaps it's somehow interfering. Try uninstalling it (if you have it at all, that is).Hellfish wrote:Some weird UI bug here, when I start the program I can't see anything but the board background. Quite frankly, I've never seen or heard of anything like this before, so I have no idea how to help.

I have pygame installed, I'll try removing that when I get home in a few days. (I'm at a compy that likes Incantus now ) It's an old lappy with an onboard gfx chipset and newest available drivers.(The problem one I mean)

Incantus doesn't use Pygame. However, since Pygame isn't useful by itself, the fact that you have it installed implies you have Python installed.Hellfish wrote:I have pygame installed, I'll try removing that when I get home in a few days. Not that I can think of any reason why a Python installation would interfere with the executable.
At the moment, I'd have to say the problem is almost certainly your graphics card.

Hmm, it seems that cards are still downloaded from the net into card_images.db, though regular images are now supported.
Could the images be instead saved into the cardimg directory as regular pictures?

As I told you in the other thread, the /cardimg/ folder has been around for a while.Marek14 wrote:Hmm, it seems that cards are still downloaded from the net into card_images.db, though regular images are now supported.
It's certainly possible. I don't know the exact syntax to do so in Pyglet (I do in Pygame), but I'm sure it's similar.Marek14 wrote:Could the images be instead saved into the cardimg directory as regular pictures?
A bugfix release should be available soon, thanks to the bug-fixing skills of Incantus and a friend of mine's awesome willingness to test cards at one in the morning.
