Damn. So that's why you're recommending to use the original game...
But I guess this makes developping a separate multiplayer Manalink version even more necessary! (Even if I understand that's a lot of work, and sadly I doubt I would have enough time myself to contribute much more than bug-hunting to this project...)
But the payoff could be huge! You could attract all the people that like multiplayer that got tired of the limits of Duels of the Planeswalkers 201*, don't want to spend money on Magic Online, but are afraid to use a program without enforced rules like Magic Workstation...

There are a lot of great free multiplayers rule enforced mtg game out there, you can check them out in the wiki 
Unfortunately, I don't have time to help on more project than ML...
