Sharing a thought about overcoming the 2K limit

Postby 0rion79 » 24 Jul 2011, 10:35

Hi all :) It is a while that I'm observing how Wizard of the Coast is slowling releasing upgraded versions of older cards.
Occasionally, I don't get the results immediately: as example, I remember that in my youth we used Jandor's Saddlebags to untap Leviathan and now I've just seen how better is Staff of Domination , which does the same thing and even coffe :)
Often, it is much more obvuious for some cards, as Shatter when compared to Shattering Pulse, or Sneaky Homunculus and AEther Figment , lol! :)
Occasionally, it is a bit harder: as example, Vines of Vastwood is overall much better than Avoid Fate.
And still there are few cards that in very rare occasions are better than their upgraded versions: one example is Crusade, which is greatly surpassed by Honor of the Pure but, if you use Intrepid Hero in your deck, you may turn the disadvantage of pumping opponent's white creatures into a potential advantage.
So, if we ever shall be able to overcome the 2K limits, it will probably mean that we will have access to the complete game's sourcecode and then it would be great to enhance the cards.dat/Manalink.csv file. Among the many changes, as updated set buttons and filters, I wonder if it would be possible to turn the "coded" voices from "0 or 1" to "0, 1 and 2" where 2 indicates cards that may be used only in sealed deck (as shatter) but that won't figure in the deck builder, unles you activate some more option.
What do you think about? Wouldn't it be nice?
