That's correct. If you play a spell and it's target becomes illegal, it's countered upon resolution, which means that buyback is countered as well.Dwedit wrote:Cards don't buyback if the target becomes illegal

Dominixux> Crashes occur also on XP, but only if you click on the taskbar with the game running (quite a hassle especially in editor mode, misclick often happen with the card list on the bottom). If you just mouseover or don't click there will be ne crash.

That is true...stassy wrote:Dominixux> Crashes occur also on XP, but only if you click on the taskbar with the game running (quite a hassle especially in editor mode, misclick often happen with the card list on the bottom). If you just mouseover or don't click there will be ne crash.
But for those who run game on Vista hide taskbar because game crashes more often if you play with new cards and taskbar is not hidden (for example, Soul Warden, any Shrine...)
Maybe, this does not appear as bug when you or someone else play game with deck with new cards, but this is main bug for me.
With my post I only want to inform people about this bug.

I'm going to post these bugs, my apologies if some aren't narrowed down very well:
1. AI does not play Bazaar of Baghdad well. (old bug, we all know this, but would love to see a change!)
2. Counterspell fails to stop Time Spiral (I haven't forced the AI into this more than twice, so don't consider it confirmed).
3. Goblin Lackey effect triggered by:
Enemy-controlled creatures dealing combat damage.
Enemy-controlled creatures dying to spells.
4. Twincast on Prosperity causes both spells to fail.
5. Duress often fails to show the opponent's hand.
6. Polluted Delta and other sac-lands: The land is sacrificed and damage dealt, but the target land stays in the library and does not enter play. (occasional)
7. Artifact lands (e.g. Darksteel Citadel) can be countered. (I don't know the rules well, but I didn't think any lands are spells).
8. Targets killed by Incinerate are removed from play.
9. Lots of strange interactions between Skullclamp and Ornithopter. Putting a Skullclamp on an Ornithopter caused the Ornithopter to leave play (but Skullclap enchant effect card stayed on the board!) Putting a skullclamp on another creature in play caused the Ornithopter in my HAND to be placed in the graveyard. (couldn't narrow this down much more, sorry)
10. Viashino Cutthroat card text refers to itself as Viashino Sandstalker.

She doesn't give lifelink to anyone else either.xXxBretWeedxXx wrote:Battlegrace Angel wasn't giving herself lifelink when she was attacking by herself as the only creature on my side of the board.
Exalted seems buggy in general. I was playing an Exalted deck last night and all the exalted triggers were going and boosting the strength of my first chosen attacker regardless of how many were attacking in total. I'd attack with 5 creatures and the first one still got all the exalted bonuses.

Ok, with Jatill latest experimental update :
With cabal coffers in play. Coffers counted the Overgrown tomb and Godless shrine correctly as swamps (yeaaaah !)....but the game crashed when I used that man to cast my desolation angel, with a wrong parametter message.

Bug with equipment.
I have 2 nuisance engine tokens and the AI has an Air Elemental.
One of my tokens is equiped with Lightning Greaves, Loxodon Warhammer and Sword of Fire and Ice. It is going fine (I guess) but it DOES NOT has lifelink, in fact I'm not gaining any life point.
Also, the AI has attacked me with Air Elemental and MY sword of Fire and ice has triggered again (!!!!) even if, of ourse, the elemental was unequiped and it was dealing damage to me!
Also, I have played a Spellblast vs. a buyback card, countering it, and it went to graveyard but its "rise dead" effect has been played anyway.

Yeah, Sword of Fire and Ice and anything that processes on damage dealt behaves oddly, like Maelstrom Angel; they trigger any time damage is dealt. If the SoFaI is put on one of the Bringers, it will trigger the Bringer's ability when it hits the player, but the Sword won't do anything.
Spell Blast was altered from the Microprose original. You can now cast it on any spell, but it doesn't do anything unless X matches the casting cost of the spell. Probably you picked X to include buyback, and the engine didn't expect that, or vice versa, so that X didn't match what the engine thought X was.

I don't know how it should behave for actual rules, but spellblast cost should be the one of the basic spell, right? the buyback, being an extra, should not be considered! Or is it working in another way?

I don't know what it's looking for in the computer version, but the way it is is that spell blast should require the target spell's buyback, if it was paid for. However, in the computer version, since stuff like helm of awakening or stone calendar does not work with buyback (or didn't when I made a capsize deck awhile ago) I doubt it is counting the buyback for spellblast's X.

Using Vesuvan Doppelganger on Sunscape Apprentice and then trying to change the creature it clones is impossible, because it brings up the two choices from the sunscape menu instead of the doppelganger menu.
When my Akroma's Memorial went to the graveyard (disenchanted) all my creatures still had vigilance when they attacked. (it was destroyed during main phase, not during attack phase)

Why is Ancient Spring a 3/3?
