My Draft Tournament Results

Postby Bog Wraith » 26 May 2009, 20:00

This is in regards to what I wrote on page 2 of this thread and the tournament that I wanted to conduct using jatill's fabulous Draft 2.0 module:

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1161&start=15

I've pretty much stuck with the game plan that I described in that post with one exception which is to declare the winner of each table at the end of the round robin play instead of having the 2 best records play each other in a table final. I did this mainly because it takes quite a while, (even longer then I had said which going in, I knew would be a lengthy procedure), to complete one table's set of rounds and I want to complete 8 tables of matches so I can then have the winners of the 8 tables play each other in another round robin tournament. This part would be played in a best of 5 as opposed to a best of 3 which is what the individual table matches are conducted in.

I will be posting the results for each table, then the second round robin consisting of the 8 table winners, and finally, the match between the 2 decks with the best records that come out of the second round robin matches.
I'm very curious to see how this whole thing plays out in my attempt of playing a Rochester Draft style 64 player tournament that consists of 8 tables with 8 separate table drafts.

I hope you find this interesting and fun to follow along with and I welcome any comments and suggestions as I go along. I will take your suggestions to heart and implement those ideas that will strengthen this process when I conduct tournament #2 after this is completed. I don't want to make any changes during an active tournament as any changes implemented would skew the results of tables that have completed their part to that point in that active tournament.

Whew...Got all that!

It's obviously going to take me quite a while to get through Tournament #1 as real life tends to get in the way of fun things to do! :P

OK, here are the results for Table 1 of Tournament #1

The Info is: The Draft Opponent Deck #, the deck score, which is the strength of the deck, in brackets, followed by the Win/Loss/Tie record. Yes,there was one tie game!
The formatting of the file that I did all the record keeping did not transfer over in this posting and I was not going to do it all again so please bear with the way it as far as the formatting looks!

The card pool chosen was: Pack 1) Post Mok, 2) The Dark & 3) 8th Edition. I chose to Enforce Rarity.

I also chose to score the tournament on total game results as opposed to match wins.

Winner of Table # 1: Draft Opponent #5

So, there you have it. Table #1 is complete. I had an absolute blast playing each of the 8 decks vs. the AI. We all know that the AI has it's limitations and does some boneheaded things at times that no human player would ever do, but because I played each of the 8 decks in turn against each other deck, I think I made the whole exercise that much fairer and accurate.

I will have more to say on the individual table winner decks at the end of round #1 after all 8 table's games are completed!

There is one thing that is not in doubt however... it was a blast to conduct the draft, build my deck, (the human deck), then play this round robin format.
I strongly suggest that you play this module that jatill, with Snacko's help, have created. It's a whole new amazing way to play this wonderful game that NEVER gets old!

Now I'm off to conduct the draft for table #2 and begin playing the matches to determine the winner of this table who will join the winner of Table #1 and later, the rest of the winners from the 6 other tables who will follow table # 2 into the round robin portion from the winners bracket! 8)

I'll post table #2's results when I'm done. Hope you check it out!
