Recurring Nightmare is a bit odd.

The first thing I noticed is I was somehow duping (duplicating, but not to be confused with the Duplicant card) Eternal Witness cards. I literally had five different cards (not tokens), but was not disqualified from the challenge. I'm not sure exactly what triggered it, but I was swapping Witnesses and Kitchen Finks to and fro using Recurring Nightmare and simply ended up with more creature cards than I had drawn from my deck.

Edit (as to not double post)-
Best. Cheat. Ever.
Step 1- Put Ancestral Recall in your graveyard. Easiest wasy is to cast it to draw 3 cards.
Step 2- Cast Yawgmoth's Will. This does not have to be on the same turn.
Step 3- Activate the will and choose to cast Ancestral Recall.
Step 4- Instead of choosing a target, opt to cancel out. You will (inexplicably) win the game due to the opponent having no more cards, even though they still have a library.

I've seen something similar with a deck I have, but I didn't know what the root cause was, because there were so many weird cards interacting. I had stuff like Recurring Nightmare, Genesis, Eternal Witness (and all kinds of comes into play/leaves play creatures), Squee, Survival of the Fittest, and so on.

Oh, and Genesis still shrinks hand size by 1 forever per use, or it did the last time I used one. Haven't tried it since Challenge Mode came in. A bunch of other cards confuse hand size too, so that sometimes you are asked to discard at less than 8 or can keep more than 7. Survival of the Fittest is one that comes to mind, but most of the culprits are the ones where you put a card in hand or discard a card in an unusual way.

Sadly this bug doesn't work on Gauntlet normal and challenge mode (game crash after cancel), but work in normal duel lol

Not sure if this is reported, but I can't hit Faerie Rogue tokens from Bitterblossom with Echoing Truth... Ruleswise, it should work, effectively eradicating them all at once.

In challenge mode, I played a first turn Glimpse the Unthinkable (I won toss) and it milled 10 cards from a different deck (some birds of paradise/instill energy/stasis thing) but the deck was Jatill's challenge mode burn deck. (the one with spark elementals and lightning bolts and stuff)

Marek14: Was Scion of Oona in play? that gives the faeries shroud, and generally the two go together in the same deck.

Regarding Echoing Truth, you can bounce Seat of the Synod with it. I tried that once in desperation since it was the only thing that could have saved me from Price of Progress :p

Hey, you're probably right - I forgot about shroud, since it's not indicated by icon... thanks :)

Platinum Angel is still an approximation to the real card, as I just lost the game after trying to draw into an empty library with it in play.

It's not very important, because it doesn't basically change anything but Revelation is active from the hand (I mean when the AI draw it, I can see its hand).

For some reason I have been getting a lot of random crashes lately, as well as being handed an autoloss on occasion during the AIs first turn upkeep. My deck is legal and I'm not cheating, unless a Tendrils deck capable of first turn kills is cheating :) The last one AI named Tendrils with his first Meddling Mage, so I didn't really care on that one, but it's really odd that it only occasionally does this, so I don't think it thinks my deck is illegal.

In case it is the deck, this is the list:

;monoblack tendrils
;
;#oldgames
;
;13/08/2009
;1
;4th Edition
;

.55 4 Dark Ritual
.1734 4 Cabal Ritual
.1510 4 Night's Whisper
.1848 4 Tendrils of Agony
.17 1 Black Lotus
.457 1 Mox Diamond
.165 1 Mox Emerald
.166 1 Mox Jet
.167 1 Mox Pearl
.168 1 Mox Ruby
.169 1 Mox Sapphire
.1502 4 Infernal Contract
.1503 4 Cruel Bargain
.62 1 Demonic Tutor
.438 1 Library of Alexandria
.1424 1 Lotus Petal
.1718 1 Chrome Mox
.333 1 Vampiric Tutor
.331 1 Imperial Seal
.1900 1 Memory Jar
.230 1 Sol Ring
.1910 1 Yawgmoth's Will*
.1487 4 Polluted Delta
.894 1 Mana Crypt
.157 1 Mana Vault
.258 4 Underground Sea
.1 1 Ancestral Recall
.249 1 Time Walk
.250 1 Timetwister
.309 1 Windfall
.282 1 Wheel of Fortune
.9 4 Badlands
.1886 1 Burning Wish

It's slightly misnamed because it used to be monoblack, but I added the other stuff and didn't bother renaming the deck.

edit: Here's a picture:

Image

This really is the first turn; I played a fetchland/dark ritual/infernal contract on first turn and then decided that I couldn't 'go off' so I passed, and then this happened.

edit #2: I'm fairly good at figuring out patterns, and it seemed like this was happening every time I played Infernal Contract/Cruel Bargain on my first turn and then passed. Doing some testing, I reproduced this autoloss bug three times in a row by playing black mana/dark ritual/contract or bargain. What's going on beats the heck out of me, but there it is.

aww1979-
What version of the game are you using? Are you using the most recent version, but chose to use the original background art?

As far as I know I have the most recent version, and yeah I didn't change the art. The download I have is from August 10.

I had the bug happen one other time when I played a black lotus/wheel of fortune first turn and then passed, but every single other time it was after a first turn contract/bargain and pass.

There's some bug with Captain of the Watch. If it leaves play, the other soldiers lose +1/+1, but they still have vigilance (this only applies to soldiers that were in play together with Captain).

EDIT:
One other thing. It seems that you can't use fetchlands to get the top card of your deck, even if it's a legal choice. The effect just ends and you've lost a fetchland and have nothing to show for it. It's not too bad if you know about it, but sometimes you forget and get a nasty setback in your mana development.

NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo.........

I cast Meditate on my turn, tapping out my mana. AI plays Daze. In response, I discard a card to Cadaverous Bloom, but my Meditate was countered and I was sitting there looking pretty stupid with BB in mana pool wondering what the heck just happened :p

I downloaded the DuelartNew folder, then deleted the Duelart folder and it jacked up the fonts. Is there something I'm supposed to do to get the new duel artwork? I thought I was supposed to remove the old folder, but that's obviously not the right idea.

Also, I'm experiencing crashes when some of the new cards are played. One example is when I played the "The Tabernacle at Pendrell" from the Winter Orb deck.

hey there neobane. I'm not sure if the problems with those cards are due to the duelart, but I've managed to get around it. go to magic.exe's properties and change its compatibility mode to "windows server 2003". then run in 256 colours and disable visual themes. if you want to play the challenge mode, don't use the launcher, open the config.txt file and make everything except "challenge mode" and "rules engine" into 0. this works for me under Vista, though sometimes it randomly decides to crash again, so I reboot.

about the art, you're supposed to overwrite the files in the old folder.
