My advice to enjoy this game more.

I always play in Gauntlet mode but with challenge disabled. You pick a deck, and play game after game against different decks.

The decks you play against are in:
x:\Manalink\PlayDeck

I used to throw any decks I could find in there including tournament winning decks and stuff. But often some cards will crash the game or the AI doesn't understand how to use it. Or the deck works but it's too harsh and it beats you in a few turns. Or it's too weak and you beat it easily every time.

So I made several decks that I think are balanced and fun and put them in that folder. Now every time I do the Gauntlet I get to play against decks I know the AI understands and are fun for me to play against. I get fun matches most of the time now.

I love gauntlet! I too use a curated set of decks, in my case old cards

Yeah it is fun. I like wacky cards and combos but it's better if I play that myself. And I give the AI powerful cards that it understands and helps it build a strong army and we can have a good battle. It can handle some planeswalker decks too, and some powerful spell decks. It's really good once it is set up to only play strong decks that it can play well.

I'll share my decks sometime once I tweaked them a bit and made some more.

Indeed all these years playing the Microprose original and all these GREAT patches (thanx to all modders/ppl involved) I only play Gauntlet, Best of 1 Matches with 50 (max) oppenents .. And ITS GREAT. I like real cards but its time consuming to play, MtG Arena on the other hand is missing endless oldschool cards i like and is boring with the same decks at high tiers.. So, making custom "Playdeck" folders, ready to rename and play with each of them is a dream come true, totally recommended to have many ready for renaming and playing with different contents, so very satisfying!!

That sounds like a great approach to enhancing your Gauntlet mode experience. It's smart to focus on decks that the AI can handle well, and it’s good to hear you’re having fun with your setup. Thanks for sharing your method!
