Just ran a check on an old Playdeck folder and didn't see any issue with 0.5, please post your deck 1pump effects.dck so I can check it out too, as I don't seems to have it in the official Playdeck folder.

It is a just a test deck (lots of those)I use and has illegal elements:
12 Crumbling Necropolis
16 Forbidden Orchard
but it should just put it on the file illegal deck instead of crashing.

Well, if you crash you should have an error.log file generated in the PDA root folder too, also what happens if you remove this deck and check again?

Line 5963? That's where the main analyze subroutine opens each playdeck to read it's contents.
It also happens to be part of the newly re-written code that allows recursive reading of the target PlayDeck folder. So, a couple of questions if you please:
* Did you import that playdeck using the "Import\from Manalink" menu option? That usually catches all illegally-formatted type stuff. Just copying decks into the target PlayDeck folder never catches illegally-formatted stuff. ^_^
* Did that particular playdeck work with any previous versions of PDAnalyser? If you'd like to experiment, you can find all previous versions in my BASIC GoogleDrive Folder.
* If you remove the file does it work on all the others? What if you rename and\or re-import the file, does that work?
* Is the name of the file actually "1pump effects.dck"? Is there a space at the end of the file name? I've had some evil effects from playdecks with whitespace at the end of their names. Really throws a wrench in the works and I've had to place checks for it in a few places besides the "Import" function.

The particular error given seems to indicate that it found the playdeck, it just couldn't open it (although I'm unsure). Would there be any obvious reason for that? Zero byte file size? Opened in another program? Odd file attributes? Hrmm.

It would be quickest and easiest if you could post a zipfile with both the problem .dck file(s) and your PDAnalyser.ini file so I can see which settings are affecting it. I may have a little extra time coming up soon, so if I can identify it as a code error I may be able to release a fix in a more timely manner.

Thanx for reporting the issue.

You know, I could always just incorporate the "Import\from Manalink" jazz into the "Rebuild" function so that illegally-formatted playdecks should never be an issue, but it would slow the process down a bit by checking the format of each and every playdeck each and every time it was rebuilt, instead of only once when it is brought into the app for the first time.

Simplicity or efficiency... What do y'all think?

One conversion button would be nice, though there are some issues in v0.5 that would have to be fixed first :

- Huge slowdown at startup, PDA seems to hang before checking the csv file and no action is possible, had to restart it several times in order to get it completely ready. Maybe does it have to do with the huge log files archives?...
Image

- Got an error while searching for a card by name and crashes
Image

- If user choose the Magic root folder and recursive folder option on, PDA seems to hang (though I suspect it scans the whole folder but nothing indicate it)

Is it possible for PDA to ignore sideboard with comma-ed cards like this example:

;4th Edition
;Daily Deck List #595 - http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/A ... y/deck/595

.2104 1 Snow-Covered Swamp

.3977 4 Cloud of Faeries
.10994 1 Mnemonic Wall
.1695 4 Mulldrifter

Also one feature to ignore dupe instead of searching for them would be nice, as we have different versions of the same decks now available (Vintage legal or Degenerated)

Hello, i have some questions about the playdeck analyser.

I've been trying to find a way to use a simple card list and make it as a Manalink deck

So i took by example the deck list of Elspeth vs Tezzeret
Elspeth | Open
1 Abolish
1 Angel of Salvation
1 Blinding Beam
1 Burrenton Bombardier
1 Catapult Master
1 Celestial Crusader
1 Conclave Equenaut
1 Conclave Phalanx
1 Crusade
1 Daru Encampment
2 Elite Vanguard
1 Elspeth, Knight-Errant
1 Glory Seeker
1 Goldmeadow Harrier
1 Infantry Veteran
1 Journey to Nowhere
1 Kabira Crossroads
1 Kemba's Skyguard
1 Kor Aeronaut
1 Kor Hookmaster
2 Kor Skyfisher
1 Loyal Sentry
1 Mighty Leap
1 Mosquito Guard
22 Plains
2 Raise the Alarm
1 Razor Barrier
1 Rustic Clachan
1 Saltblast
1 Seasoned Marshal
1 Stormfront Riders
1 Sunlance
1 Swell of Courage
2 Swords to Plowshares
1 Temple Acolyte

Tezzeret | Open
1 AEther Spellbomb
1 Arcbound Worker
1 Argivian Restoration
1 Assembly-Worker
1 Clockwork Condor
1 Clockwork Hydra
1 Contagion Clasp
1 Darksteel Citadel
1 Echoing Truth
1 Elixir of Immortality
1 Energy Chamber
1 Esperzoa
2 Everflowing Chalice
1 Faerie Mechanist
1 Foil
1 Frogmite
20 Island
1 Juggernaut
1 Master of Etherium
1 Mishra's Factory
1 Moonglove Extract
1 Pentavus
1 Qumulox
1 Razormane Masticore
2 Runed Servitor
1 Seat of the Synod
1 Serrated Biskelion
1 Silver Myr
1 Stalking Stones
1 Steel Overseer
1 Steel Wall
1 Synod Centurion
1 Tezzeret the Seeker
2 Thirst for Knowledge
1 Thoughtcast
1 Trinket Mage
1 Trip Noose
1 Triskelion

And save them as text files , but then i change the .txt extension from those text files into .dec to make it as if they were decks from Apprentice as the .dec from Apprentice were basic card lists.

I then use Playdeck Analyser, click on Import -> From Apprentice and select one of the .dec files , PDA tells me "2 playdecks imported"

In the Manalink "Playdeck" folder i now have 2 .dck file, but looking at them i see :

Looks like PDA didn't assigned the cards codes during the export.

I then click on Rebuild to see if it can help, i wait +/-40s until PDA rebuild the 3000+ dck files (is there a way to only rebuild selected decks ? ) from the Playdeck directory and finally i get the .dck files with card codes

It seems to have now assigned card codes.

Then i close PDA and launch Manalink then go to Duel, and unfortunately both decks aren't appearing in the long list of them.
I go to the deck builder and i can load the decks.

What is happening ? and is there a way to make the decks appearing in the duel mode in case there's a problem i'm overlooking there ?

EDIT : i think i see the problem now
If i relaunch PDA and click on Rebuild so it rebuild everything again, i then check in the log for the elspeth and tezzert deckfiles and see :
Elspeth.dck
.9331 Burrenton Bombardier ...in PlayDeck is listed as UNCODED
---------------------------
.7801 Conclave Equenaut ...in PlayDeck is listed as UNCODED
---------------------------
.8857 Stormfront Riders ...in PlayDeck is listed as UNCODED
---------------------------
.9446 Swell of Courage ...in PlayDeck is listed as UNCODED
---------------------------
.6107 Daru Encampment ...in PlayDeck is listed as UNCODED
---------------------------
Tezzeret.dck
.910 Assembly-Worker ...in PlayDeck is listed as UNCODED
---------------------------
.6634 Clockwork Condor ...in PlayDeck is listed as UNCODED
---------------------------
.11033 Runed Servitor ...in PlayDeck is listed as UNCODED
---------------------------
So that was the problem, some cards are uncoded.
I can replace them but i'm wondering then, is there a way to be warned by PDA when you import them that uncoded cards are present ?

Unfortunately you can only see the results after ordering PDA to import, so once it's done, you hit the "log" button on the bottom left of the PDA windows and check if any UNCODED string is there (CTRL+F because Ciroth kindly upgraded the internal text editor).

For single or fewer deck conversion, I use the option "Import netdeck" which is convenient for me because I can just copy past a card list, in that case you have a preview result before copying into the Playdeck folder

Re: Manalink PlayDeck Analyser v0.5

Postby VladVoivode » 27 Dec 2014, 12:14

Hey all,

I've been finding some very cool decks online and posting them in the Forge section. I want to post these as well to Manalink but the PlayDeck Analyzer is befuddling me a bit. For decks from Deckbox.org, it's easy to use the built in deck editor for Manalink and Forge. For Forge it's simply copy and paste into the Import Deck component of the Deck Editor. But for Manalink, I've been dragging and dropping using Manalink's legacy deck builder from the MicroProse game. I have quite a few decks for Manalink but here's the problem: I want to add more, LOTS more but other sites which have MUCH stronger decks like Tapped Out don't list cards alphabetically and using the built in legacy deck builder in Manalink 3.0 is insane with so much scrolling back and forth.

Is there a simple tutorial that I could consult to more efficiently add decks for Manalink? There is nothing more disheartening than to drag and drop 58 cards and then realize that the final two are not yet playable in Manalink.

I realize that we have in excess of 3000 play decks in Manalink, but, I am of the opinion that there are NEVER enough play decks! Manalink's card pool has grown considerably. I think at the moment I have close to 13000 play decks in Forge. I am guessing that of those, perhaps 10000 SHOULD work in Manalink.

Any help would be appreciated and the pay off will be some really wonderful decks for Manalink!

Best,
Vlad

PS: I just started a few weeks ago and I've already posted approximately 190 decks to Forge and I have another batch of 70 ready to go.

Hi,VladVoivode playdeck analyser can help you a lot but you still have enough to do,I already tried with 20+ decks you submitted for Forge it took me about 10 minutes to convert those from the form they were to Manalink and find which are good and which have uncoded cards and which uncoded cards.

1- First you need to set the basic parameters for every action you do with PlayDeck Analyser v0.5 - to select the latest Manalink.csv which is in your main folder for PlayDeck Analyser v0.5 to read from.
2- Then open the import playdeck option on top and
3- select the option import from Netdeck. It will open a new menu editor
4- Now if you want to import the decks you have already done for Forge select open text and then the file where those are.
4a- If you want to import decks from anywhere on the net, copy/paste and save them in a text editor. The cards have to be in a column 1 card in each raw to be read (like they are in Manalink,Forge) and do as above in 4 and without the number of total cards, number of creatures, etc.
5- Now you select 1 of them then hit convert and then
6- save it (the first time you will be asked for a file to be saved probably it is good to do it somewhere in playdeck analyser-make a new folder in it).
7- then hit next
8- now you can select the 2nd deck(step 5)and redo step 6 and 7 until you convert all the decks.5-7 steps take around 5-6 seconds on my old pc.For every deck conversion it makes a log file that lists the conversion and possible bugs.

Your decks are now converted in Manalinks.dck form and in other forms as well. You are done with Netdeck editor.

Now from the main menu of PlayDeck Analyser v0.5 which is still open you select "select playdeck folder" option and you select the folder where you have saved the decks (.dck) and then rebuilt them.It will then check the decks for uncoded cards or any other problem and will place the good decks for Manalink.3 in Netdeck/dck file and the ones that have uncoded cards in Netdeck/dck/uncoded.
It will also produce a log file with all decks that converted successfully or not and there you can see which cards from the decks are not coded for Manalink.3. If you want then you can replace the uncoded cards with similar cards we have if there are any so you can make those decks available for Manalink.3

I hope this will help you.

There is still a problem I have for the decks to be loaded from Manalink.3 deck editor wait for news.
Just + symbol is not loaded from Manalink3.0 deck editor so when you convert the decks if it is in the name subtracted or replace it.

Hi Aswan jaguar,

This helps a LOT actually! I realize that Manalink has a little over 3100 decks but some of these sites like Tapped Out, Magic League, etc., have some seriously cool decks.

As for the "+" designation I was using, I eliminated that after the second zip so no worries there. Instead, what I am in doing in Forge and from the deck editor in Manalink thanks to Nexhro's explaining a better way to use the search box is to use designations for where the decks are from in case people want to go to these sites to see if the decks are updated. So for example:

TOUT is Tapped Out
DB is Deckbox
ML is Magic League

etc.

If I can pest you with one more question. Even with PDA and the superb instructions you gave and again, MUCH thanks and I hope the Manalink community will enjoy the decks - it helps me too as I am getting back into MTG after a hiatus that began after Judgment was released so reviewing these decks allows me to get to know a LOT of new cards - it seems that Standard decks have the fewest uncoded cards. Modern and Vintage are touch and go. I am pretty certain I have all of the updates but correct me if I am wrong please? It seems that Manalink is a bit behind Forge in total number of cards, something like 2000 less? If the number is smaller than I may have missed an update or two. But my question is, for Manalink, would you advise that I restrict my hunting to the following order: 1. Standard 2. Modern 3. Vintage?

Thanks again! You've answered a few questions for me in the past - including one about SPAT and Planes. Since Manalink has so much hard coded into the game, I doubt I can be of much help with music and sounds, so the decks are a way of paying back.

Best,
Vlad

Yeah, Manalink has less cards than Forge. Seeing as the coding of new cards as well as the bugfixing is currently a one man show while Forge's community has multiple people contributing to the code side of things, it's not that surprising. Add to that the increased frequency at which WotC releases new products/cards and it might amaze you as much as me that this project is progressing so steadily. I really wish there was more coders willing to invest time in Manalink, and find the thought of Gargaroz not being able to spend time on the project and the halt that would entail quite worrying.

There was also a code-wise limit of 2000 unique cards up until January 2012, which explains why many (less frequently played) cards from older sets are missing. Ever since, the devs have included smaller batches of older cards with new patch releases while converting the cards that were included in the game's original release (cards from Alpha, Beta, Arabian Nights, The Dark etc) and were originally coded in the overly difficult (and obscure) ASM language to C. Lastly, there is certain mechanics like countering triggered abilities (Stifle), mana with restricted usability (Boseiju, Who Shelters All), controlling a player's turn (Mindslaver), copying abilities (Rings of Brighthearth), ending the turn (Time Stop) or changing a spell's targets (Misdirection) that can't be coded at the moment, which is mostly due to the fact that this ancient piece of software doesn't have native support for functions like that as far as I know.

So some staples are still missing, but I think you'll find that almost all other cards run in competitive decks of any format are already available. Hell, except for Misdirection and Stifle I haven't missed anything whenever I built a Type 1 or Type 1,5 deck.

To sum it up, Standard and Modern are definitely covered, unless you're attempting to build some obscure Sundial of the Infinite deck. As for Legacy and Vintage, you'll have access to all staples save for the uncodeable ones. Homebrew/rogue builds in those older formats are hit or miss: nothing major is missing in my opinion, but since people have various preferences, some might be disappointed to find out they can't build their favorite deck because one or two of the list's cards are missing. So, depending on the nature of the decks you're intending to convert (competitive/casual/janky for the sake of it), some minor deck-tweaking or the cutting of some decks might be necessary.
