Rules Question - Balance + Champion keyword
by porphyre » 01 Aug 2012, 19:24
I don't understand how this is supposed to work in Paper Magic, so I don't know if it's a bug in Manalink.
I have Wren's Run Packmaster in play and it has Championed an elf.
My opponent has ZERO creatures in place and casts Balance.
I sacrificed the Packmaster due to Balance, the Championed Elf popped back into play, then Manalink made me sacrifice him too!
Maybe that's how it's supposed to work? I don't really know. Instants are faster than Sorceries, but Balance is already resolving... WOTC got rid of Interrupts a long time ago, so I think the Championed Elf doesn't come back in to play until AFTER Balance has finished resolving and therefore doesn't get sacrificed.

Well, I'll take your word for what's happening on Manalink, but the rules of Magic would bring the Championed creature back into play after Balance has finished resolving, and therefore, you should still have the creature.

Well, I reported it as a bug but this Balance feature was active since the debut of the Persist creatures (Kitchen Finks)
