I'd really like to try to keep things organized better then they were at the old place, even if we're here only temporarily. The other site became unwieldy and hard for members to find pertinent info and the latest updates. I'd like to establish this while were still "settling in" to this site.
Also, I'd like to try to keep threads from becoming to big in page counts as this also gets confusing when dealing with new update releases and the links to them.
So If anyone has any suggestions or ideas in how to best present the info & updates here, please feel free to post them here. I want to help make this place as easy to navigate and find whatever someone might be looking for.

Here's what I'd like to see:
Sticky:
1) Newest version (1st post has link to recent version, and another link to the base 2.0, where ever that is hosted these days)
2) Art Thread (1st post has 2 links... 1 to all art since Mok's update, the other has recently added art)
3) Tutorial
4) Bugs
5) Non-card development (GUI, etc)
Non-Sticky:
Everything else

Agreed.
1) For now though, I'm not sure where the original ManaLink file is hosted. If someone knows, can you post the link here and I will make a separate sticky for it.
The original version of the game was available for a long time at The Home of the Underdogs, but they are once again offline. If anyone has a link for the abandon ware version of the game, please post it here as well.
2) There is a graphics sticky now, and the original artwork links could go in there. Again, I don't have the links for these. Mathy might have them or know of where they are. We'll work on this.
3) Already done!
4) Ditto!
5) Part of the Graphic Sticky, but another separate one can be created, especially if Cardart becomes it's own. Another thing I'd like to get Mathy's input on since he is heavily involved in these 2 areas!
Great feedback jatill. Thanks!
Keep it coming folks!

Awesome EviL_CLonE!
Thank you very much!
I'm going to post this info as a sticky right away!
---------------------------------------------------------
EDIT
Does anyone have the Installation Guide or any other of the info that were sticky's at the old site?
This is the biggest drawback to loosing the old site as there were tons of info for new and existing players alike that I would love to have here!
Hopefully, we can get some of it here one way or another in the near future!

Now that updates can be found always in the same place, installation has became easier:
°Install "Magic: The Gathering by MicroProse (Abandonware)"
°Install "ManaLink 1.32" in the same directory where the game is, overwriting if necessary.
°Install "Manalink 2.0" in the same directory where the game is, overwriting if necessary.
°Install the last updated version (Get it in http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=893&start=0 )Just like the previous updates.
I think that's all... It's not a "great instalation guide" but at least it is helpful.

I really don't understand very much these things, but could it be possible to create a "all in one" installer (Or better yet, a portable application), including the original game, ML132 and ML2? It would make things even easier.

I know an expert at making installers, I don't know what his situation is though. So that's possible but would take a bit of time.
I like standalones better, just extract and go, when that's possible. If this app requires no registry dependencies then that would be easy. I'll take a look at it.
<edit> It does require registry entries, so it's not perfectly simple to make a standalone, but not too hard either.
<edit> I also see that you're using the old HOTU rip. Missing the videos is bad enough, but using ogg files instead of the original wav files means losing a bit of quality which you might want to consider restoring.

I have a copy of the game in my pendrive, what I did was to install the game in my pc and then copy it "as is" to the pendrive. It runs perfectly in any other PC; and this way, I can carry my freakness with me wherever I go.
Maybe it could be uploaded the same way (Zipping the "magic" folder and upload it to any host).
Good Night

Certainly. It appears then that the registry entry isn't needed.

Well, I have the original disks to the game and don't use the Abandonware version, at least for my main install, (like many, I have multiple installs of the game!).
I have both the Duels of the Planeswalkers & Spells of the Ancients original CD's that I bought when the game first came out.
I too have always wondered about an all in one distro, with everything up to and including Mok's original ManaLink 2.0 final release.
The other versions are constantly being updated with new content, so those would be added in separately after the initial install. Sort of a combination of what both of you are discussing.
From what I gather over the years, most people have the Abandonware version and patch accordingly.
I'm curious to see what if anything can be done to streamline the initial installation.

So, Duels of the Planeswalkers is all you need, and the one to have, correct?
It included the original game, all of the upgrades included in Spells of the Ancients, and 80 new cards from the expansion sets Legends and The Dark.

I'm pretty sure that the abandonware version has both Duels of the Planeswalkers & Spells of the Ancients in the zip file, but as I say I haven't installed that version for years so I'm not certain.
