True, but sometimes that 3 card combo is far more efficient. Again,
Heartbeat of Spring can make things happen just as fast as long as you have the proper dual/fetch land base. Heartbeat turn 3, Door turn 4, win turn 5. Add a Mox and
Birds of Paradise turn 1, and it can go off one turn faster.
But if you want a more casual (and frankly easier to execute because not everyone can look at a
Tundra,
Taiga,
Plateau, and
Volcanic Island and instantly realize their
Windswept Heath needs to fetch either a
Scrubland or
Bayou for black mana in order to make WGRUB, in that order)
Door to Nothingness deck, Golden Lotus is just too slow and basically gives your opponent two turns to respond, either by killing your defenseless butt or using one turn to fetch an answer and another to use it. In order to drop a Door and activate it the following turn with a Golden Lotus, you either play the Lotus first and somehow come up with 5 other mana sources to cast the Door, or cast the Door first and still have 3 lands untapped to drop the Lotus. Either way, you're on land #9 on a normal curve considering the Lotus itself replaces 4 lands total.
Anyway, wasn't here for a big argument More wishlist cards!
