New Quest Challenges
by Emfatic » 19 Sep 2012, 17:40
I've been loving playing the quest and have been very excited to finally get to the point where I can access the challenges. It was a worthwhile goal.
Now that I've tried a few of them, I wonder if there is a further goal I can achieve by winning all five of the coloured challenges, or is that all there is? If so, I'm disappointed to have the quest end so soon. A quest with only two levels of achievement doesn't seem like much of a quest to me.

There are currently 27 special quests for you to eventually play against. They require you to have won anywhere from 20 wins to 96 wins before they becom available.
The dungeon crawling decks are just the first challenges that become available.

Awesome! I liked how it used to show how many more wins I needed to get to the challenges level. It was a concrete goal I could work towards. It would be nice to see that again so that people know that there is actually something more to get. Since the number of wins needed is variable, maybe it can say that, like "You need up to x wins to get more challenges. The minimum is 20" where x is 96 minus the number of current wins.Chris H. wrote:There are currently 27 special quests for you to eventually play against. There should be a line of text near the stats area that says "Next challenge available in ## wins"...?
Also, if you look around in the bazaar (fantasy mode), there might be somebody selling something directly challenge-related...

Not that I'm specifically saying Forge should do this, but I would love for there to be a game that's basically Forge's quest mode except with an actual map. Random dungeons, different terrain = different color enemies, maybe even certain areas just take cards from specific sets (i.e. fighting in a city = Ravnica cards). With lots of ideas blatantly stolen from Shandalar (except the gimmicks of mana links and wizards trying to stick domes over cities). So if you want to go dungeoneering to get the best cards, first you have to get there. But you can also go straight there. Probably turn-based. Maybe even static enemies. Graphics lifted from other sources, like open-source Wesnoth graphics.
Really, I just want to play Shandalar with all the new cards

Ever heard of The Blind Eternities Map? It's sort of that but with planes.
EDIT:It's not implemented, but it's a personal goal.

Time to change the tune of his fearful ballad
C is for "Lettuce," that's good enough for me

Dennis Bergkamp was playing around with this idea a couple of years ago and actually had a test version out back then. It might still be floating around the forums in a back corner somewhere.RanDomino wrote:Not that I'm specifically saying Forge should do this, but I would love for there to be a game that's basically Forge's quest mode except with an actual map.
