Ante + Sideboard
by TastetheJace » 14 Dec 2012, 06:12
Hey guys,
How does the ante selection work for the quest duels? Is it choosing a card at random for my opponent and me or is there a system?
Also, how do you add a side board to your deck?
Thx

I never play with ante so I can't help you with this part best is to try!
Anyway to add a sideboard to your deck you must edit the deck file with a text editor and add the cards under [sideboard], they won't appear under the current deck editor, nor will you be able to use them for now because sideboarding isn't implemented as of ver 1.3.2, but i've heard somewhere that someone is working on implementing this feature

Sideboarding is actually implemented but the code is rather untested so it won't be a part of v1.3.3, rather, it'll go into the next nightly after that (or shortly after v1.3.3 is released anyway) and will become a part of the v1.3.4 release in the future.

Thank you Agetian. I am in the process of releasing v1.3.3.

Thank you, guys!
@ Sloth: Nice, I'll get ready to commit then. I've done all the basic testing I could, but I'm sure there will be things to fix and optimize in the current implementation, so the best way to find out what needs fixing/improving is to commit and see.

Yes antes are random, but basic lands are not allowed to be anted.TastetheJace wrote:How does the ante selection work for the quest duels? Is it choosing a card at random for my opponent and me or is there a system?

Oh cool, thx for the response. Sometimes it's real bummer on random though cause it'll select your most valuable/strong card from your deck (and for good measure the comp will ante a Chimney Imp), so not only are you risking your best card, but you can't actually use it to win that game. It's the last part there that is killer. But I have a lot of fun with ante overall.friarsol wrote:Yes antes are random, but basic lands are not allowed to be anted.TastetheJace wrote:How does the ante selection work for the quest duels? This is the exact reason ante was removed from the game so many years ago. Anyway, I doubt we'll be trying to tweak ante to work any other way, so hopefully you'll be able to win more cards off your foes than you'll end up losing. Quest benefits a ton from access to powerful cards via ante, but it is potentially high risk high reward.TastetheJace wrote:Sometimes it's real bummer on random though cause it'll select your most valuable/strong card from your deck (and for good measure the comp will ante a Chimney Imp), so not only are you risking your best card, but you can't actually use it to win that game. I like ante though, it certainly makes each game win or lose more exciting! Nice addition to Forge.
