Program is crashing a lot
by ForTheForge » 20 Feb 2013, 18:27
First let me say I love this program. Second I am new to MTG and this Forge program. This program allows me a great way to learn the rules of the game and try strategies out without embarrasment.
Now to the issue. The game seems to be crashing a lot. By crashing I mean a window pops up and gives me an option to save, close, exit application or continue. It used to happen every few games or so but now it seems like I cant finish a 3 game match vs the AI without the error popping up. Once the error occurs if i click continue nothing i can't continue with the game. None of the game buttons work. I eventually try to close the program and get credited with a loss for the match. I've upgraded to the latest version of Java and have Windows 7. Is there anything I can do to reduce the amount of errors occuring? I've attached just one of the most recent error logs that occured.

For some reason Forge people post in the wrong, non-Forge forums more than anyone else. Moved to proper forum...

1.3.8 had a number of gameplay crash problems, unfortunately. They have been fixed for the next release. For future reference, bug reports for a release should go in the thread dedicated for that purpose, currently this one. The next release /should/ solve the crashes you've been seeing, but if they still happen for you, please do post about them!

I apologize for posting on the wrong area. I came across this place using a basic search and didnt realize it was for other programs too. Thanks for posting the snapshot links. Forgive me for the newbish question but do I just extract those into my forge folder? I tried to find instructions using the forum search feature but didnt see anything. Thanks again.

the changes.txt file included with the archive wrote:The archive format used for the Forge distribution is ".tar.bz2". There are utilities for Windows, Mac OS and the various *nix's that can be used to extract/decompress these ".tar.bz2" archives. We recommend that you extract/decompress the Forge archive into a new and unused folder.

Thanks. Just figured out a snapshot is basically a whole new program download rather then a patch. I'll just download the latest one and move all my save files.
