Broken A.I

Postby lucelle » 12 Aug 2013, 05:02

The ai in forge is complete trash and dysfunctional. Why bother allowing the player to even battle against AI if it doesn't work? I'm witnessing bullshit twice in a row where the AI has almost no health left, nothing on the field, whilst the player has a field full of monsters and mana, and suddenly the AI summons 6 4/4+ monsters, gives them all haste and oneshots the player. This is complete and utter rulebreaking bullshit and needs to be fixed or half of this program doesn't even work. This is the fucking EASY ai for god's sake, save the blatant cheating for high difficulty AI, please.

You're not going to get any of the devs interested in helping if you go on a rant with no card specifics. The Forge AI CAN'T look further ahead into the game and is unaware of what is in your hand and library even if it has looked at it so can't cheat like some more advanced AI programs. If it cast a bunch of big creatures in one turn, it had the cards in hand and likely hadn't cast them because it was wasting mana elsewhere. If the AI didn't have the mana to cast it, then it might be a bug in which case let us know which creature was cast for free and preferably with a screenshot so we can try debug the offending card.

People get passionate when they give a shit, that's a good thing. When they're rude, that's not so good.

OP, Forge is open source. Fix it yourself, or try something else. There is no larger repository of excellent software to try than right here at CCGHQ.

The Forge AI is fairly basic and it is not an advanced AI. No one has tried to hide this fact from you or anyone else. That being said, the AI is no where near as bad as you would suggest.

It appears that you are playing the quest mode. The decks that are designed for the computer to play against you in quest mode all have a theme behind the design of the particular deck. It appears that you are complaining and ranting about one of the deck themes rather than submitting an effective bug report about the AI.

We strongly suggest that you learn to control your temper and try to communicate in a more calm and considerate fashion. In your first post to the CCGH Forge forum you were having problems using the mana pool and you used language that was far more reasonable and was less likely to start a fight. You received a response that explained how to use the mana located in the mana pool and we hope that you have moved past that one problem.

People who are new to Forge and or MtG will find themselves facing a learning curve and they need to be patient while they gain experience. You can not expect that the people here will continue to help you if you continue to use a hostile and adversarial attitude.

But please try to change your attitude and your approach towards the people who contribute to the Forge project and to the people who read the messages here on the CCGH Forge forum. We all have feelings and as they say, "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar."
