Having problem installing Forge 1.5.5.tar.bz2

Postby 7-Die » 19 Nov 2013, 16:11

Hello everyone,
I'm having a problem installing the latest version of Forge 1.5.5.tar.bz2
It simply won't go to the unzip when I click it. Any suggestions?

We need to know what OS and archive program you use to be able to help you with this.

Hello timmermac,
I'm using Windows Vista, and my archive program is 7zip or 7-zip, however you spell it.

7-zip seems to occasionally have issues with our archive, so my recommendation is to do a web search for WinRAR, then download and install it, then use it to open the archive. I've never had a problem using WinRAR.

Hi Timmermac,
I've downloaded winrar and tried to extract the forge file using it. It says "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged." I've tried redownloading the forge file and trying again but keep getting the same error message. Should I be changing the .bz suffix on the file to something else?

hmmm... which version of WinRAR did you get? I've got 4.20-64 bit

It's probably a corrupted download, and possibly a cached download too so you keep getting the same corrupted file even though it seems like you are re-downloading. Try clearing your cache and redownloading.
