Forcing Different Images

Postby jawg » 16 Dec 2013, 21:28

Just a noob posting 1st question, - first let me say this is a terrific program you guys have here and great to have a community involved with it... now for the question: Is there a way to get Forge to display newer images when constructing or playing decks, without using set restrictions in the editor - cards such as Serra Angel that have multiple reprints and I'd prefer that the default set chosen in the deck editor (therefore the image used when working with that deck elsewhere) used for such cards be the most recent one. I'm not sure how complex it would be to code in or add an option like "[Y/N] Where valid reprints exist, display newest" - conforming to whatever limitations are in place for the desired format. Wrath Of God, for example, seems to default to Alpha in the 'Card Catalog' listing - even when using a filter to restrict to Modern(??). Maybe I have made some errant assumptions and someone can set me straight.

Also, this is only a look/feel question rather than function, but is it possible/practical to have more than one option for the image used when building in basic land (since multiple instances exist in booster sets) - in a very simplistic mono-color deck, I end up with 24 of the same image, since it [seems] to be (but I'm not certain) that lands and their images correspond strictly one-to-one...? Perhaps each of them can be referenced - they do have different collector numbers, after all. Land diversification within a set is only an immersion thing so it won't bother me if it forever remains 'something really cool that never actually happens.' Just thought I'd ask.

I fully understand if the effort goes into other things besides streamlining cards that are functionally identical.

There is a hacky solution to getting mixed land images, but it involves editing the deck files after a deck is saved.

Go to the constructed deck files, open the deck you want to edit in any text editor. Basic lands will have a line something like '24 Forest [ZEN]'. Change that to 24 separate lines of '1 Forest [ZEN]' and each one will use a random Zendikar forest. Change the set code as wanted or remove it completely to completely randomise the art
