How do I create new fantasy blocks or cubes with Forge?

Postby jephlewis » 28 Feb 2014, 16:51

I can't seem to create a fantasy block or a cube. I have tried reading the Forge user guide instructions in the wiki, but My fantasyblocks.txt is completely different. It doesn't have index numbers, so I cannot add another number to create a new line.

What my fantasyblocks.txt looks like: my fantasy blocks
Running Win7x64 if it matters.

When I try adding info, Forge locks up. I'm assuming since nobody else seems to have this problem, there is a new guide somewhere, but I just can't find it.

Can anybody point me to an up to date step by step walkthrough on how to create a fantasy block for sealed and draft play and a cube for sealed and draft play please?

Edit: I've seen the instructions at this thread, and I'm not understanding them. The example in the last post appears to be completely different from all previous instructions, and I don't see how it explains to create a fantasy block or cube.

Hi JephLewis.

First off, the process for creating a cube and for creating a fantasy block are completely different. For building a cube your best bet will be to ask around in the Custom Cubes thread in the Forge Decks subforum. There's no nicely documented tutorial on building a cube though, so ask in that topic or maybe PM juzam Jedi or skiera who built and maintain the cubes released with forge.

As for fantasy blocks, the thread you pointed to in your edit is the comprehensive guide for building fantasy blocks. Just go through it slowly and unless you're building a really complex one, you can probably avoid the section on meta. Just make sure you check out the last post by Max which points out the changes to syntax. If you still don't come right, post here how you want your block to be composed and I'll see if I can write up the relevant block data.
