The Problem of Feedback

Postby mtgrares » 16 Jun 2009, 19:42

It is hard to find useful feedback just because. It is not that anybody is at fault, but what useful feedback could your receive if you already made a movie and then had a test screening? Maybe cut a joke or two. Or cut some of the slow parts.

In the late nineties, I worked as a Computer Games Tester.

This is a great article from starcitygames that talks about this one guys experience as a videogame tester and then as a games designer and how it relates to the failings of Magic Online 3.0.

As a tester he found all of these problems, submitted them, and was frustrated when none of the problems were fixed. Later as a game designer he would receive all of these problems that couldn't be fixed and was frustrated to why anyone would submit problems that couldn't be fixed.

Even though he could see both sides of the problem it was still frustrating.

So yes I do read and consider all of the feedback that MTG Forge receives. I am not a saint and I'm sure that some of my choices appear odd or irritating. We (dennis, rob, me and others) try to fix as much as we can but some things are impossible or at least very hard.

No matter how many bugs you squash, there's always more comming over the hill.
