Forge Quest Tournaments - How to get more variety?
by Zarator » 31 Jan 2021, 18:30
I've thoroughly enjoyed the Quest Mode, but one gripe I have with it (aside from the difficulty in finding certain sets on the shop, such as Modern Horizons, Oath of the Gatewatch and the Time Spiral block) is the lack of variety in the Tournament list. All I see on it are mostly Alpha and Beta draft tournaments. I remember seeing a couple Revised ones, and a Shard of Alara one too, but it's mostly Alpha and Beta now.
Is there some way to refresh the list to see more sets? I'd like to draft some of the more recent sets in my Quest mode.

If you are in quest, you are linited in sets depending on the world you are in. I recommend you to be patient and catch Moxes and ancestral and good stuff, then you use the "travel" choice to MOVE to another place... lets say Ravnica, catch what you can there and then Mive again. There is a place called Non-set or something like that where every set that is not in Jamuraa or MTG's lore are in. Experience a bit. If you wanna know exactly what sets contains each place, go to Forge/Res/Quest/World. I remember an archive World.txt in Quest or World. Open it and there you will find every place you can move in and what sets are in there.
If you want specifics cards you can also begin a new quest campaign but first in options let the "ante" cards available. With cards like "Jeweled Bird" and Demonic Attourney you can steal the top cards of opponent decks. You can add cards like nevermaker and Noxious Revival to control opponent turn and know exactly what to put on top and the steal it forever.
Read more in forums about what you want to know about the game. Seems like no one responds about things you can know about... reaaaading.

Totally agree with you - Quest Mode is great, but the tournament variety gets stale fast. From what I’ve seen, the tournament list in Quest is semi-random but definitely favors the early sets like Alpha/Beta unless you customize it. One thing that helped me was editing the questData folder (look for tournaments.txt or similar depending on your version). You can manually add more recent draft formats to the pool like Modern Horizons or Time Spiral Remastered and even weight them more heavily if you want them to appear more often.
