Free fan made deck boxes for your magic cards

Postby Mr.Chaos » 21 Aug 2010, 15:34

MTG is one of my hobbies, paper crafting is another. And via a weblog about the latter, I found out about these fantastic free deck boxes for your magic decks.
Go to this site: http://www.firebrandcreations.net/Papercraft/Deck%20Box/DeckBox.htm and grab the ZIP file.
In the ZIP file are PDF files with deck boxes for each color and colorless as well as for multicolor decks.
Each deck box can hold 75 cards.
Full instructions on assembly are included in the ZIP file.
So if you also play with the real cards you can really open up on your opponents now.
Once you assemble them, the boxes look like books/ancient tomes, have a look:

Sweet as! I used to dabble in these kinds of crafts a long time ago (Lost my pride and joy nekomimi figure to a stray glass of lemonade.. :( ) I'll be trying this out for sure!
So now you're

Evil puppet demon of obesity
Time to change the tune of his fearful ballad
C is for "Lettuce," that's good enough for me

Those do look cool.

There's a template for Magic Set Editor to make the simple tournament pack style deck boxes.

How can so many people be so involved in Magic without owning cards?!?!

While I haven't played in a tournament in a long time, and my only opponent is my daughter... I still pickup cards whenever I can spare the cash.. and even sometimes when I shouldn't..

Because cards cost money, and at the moment, I don't have enough to spare to justify picking up packs/singles. Matter of fact, there's a Grand Prix coming up soon here in Portland that I'd like to attend, but I don't know that I can spare the $40 for the entry fee.

Yeah, good question. There's the $$$ part I'd rather spend on other things, and there's only a few of my friends that still play.

Which is why Forge is such a great alternative, it doesn't cost anything and it doesn't require friends that play
Plus, the coding is a lot of fun.

Add up the total amount of hours you spent coding on this game and tell us again that it doesn't cost anything!
But at least you are having fun, that sort of makes up for it I guess.

My nine-year-old daughter was looking over my shoulder a couple of weeks ago as I was reading this thread. A week later she surprised me with one of them that she put together for my 50th birthday (I have no idea how she found this site / post again to get the instructions). It's pretty cool! Thanks for finding this MC!
(Now I have to try to adjust the dimensions for my sleeved EDH decks...)
